Why you love the Yankees: My dad. He was a Yankee fan while growing up, and something about the game and the team just struck me as a kid. He and my cousin Frankie took me to my first game when I was 7 back in September, 1978, a doubleheader against the Tigers. I saw Guidry, Munson, Jackson, Gossage, Piniella, Randolph, Nettles. Been obsessed with them ever since.
Favorite Player: Jeter, Matsui, Mussina, Rivera, Posada, Bernie, Girardi, Cone, O'Neill, Tino, Sojo, El Duque, Mattingly, Randolph, Guidry, John, Gossage, Righetti, Stanley, Seaver (I know, a non-Yankee), Bench, Ryan, Piniella, Munson, Mantle, DiMaggio, Ruth, Gehrig, Berra, Rizzuto, Ford, Chesbro, Lazzeri, Hoyt, Dickey.
Favorite moment in Yankee/sports history: Winning the 1996 World Series. After 18 years of waiting, THAT was freakin' SWEET. Boone's homer was pretty good... The ENTIRE 1998 season... Hell, even Brosius and Tino's homers in the 2001 series...
And add anything else you'd like to tell us about yourself: I have become a more level headed fan as I have gotten older. I refuse to boo ANY Yankee, no matter how bad they have done lately. I despise bandwagon jumpers. The number of Red Sox caps I see, SUDDENLY, sickens me. (Similar to the overabundance of Yankee caps about 5-7 years ago) I have no problem giving a true, long suffering Sox fan their due, they earned it, but I'll be DAMNED if I'll give an inch to a bandwagon jumper on ANYTHING. I consider myself a knowledgeable, true blue Yankee fan who bleeds pinstripes. I have a Yankee tattoo and my entire home office is done in Yankee memorabilia, including Yankee curtains my mom made for me a few years ago. I also have the coolest wife in the world for not only accepting this passion for the Yankees, but for getting caught up in it. Hell, she told me to take a leave of absence from my job to try to get on the Ultimate Road Trip thing on the YES network... Gotta love her!
