If you already hold an SSI certification (issued after 2006), you most likely already have a user profile – and for all divers certified after 2008, this is guaranteed. Your SSI Training Center can locate your profile and tell you which email address was originally used for your registration. If necessary, the Training Center can also update the information in your existing profile. Please note: The MySSI app only displays the data, courses, and cards that an SSI Center has added to your online profile on my.divessi.com as digital courses. If multiple user profiles exist for you, courses and certifications are only visible in the profile where they were originally registered or issued. Therefore, please ensure that all your cards and courses have been registered or certified in the correct profile by your SSI Training Center. If programs, certifications, or recognition cards do not appear in your online profile, they cannot be displayed for this user in the app. For any missing courses or certifications, please contact your SSI Training Center directly. They are responsible for the complete and accurate registration of your information.

Replacement cards can be ordered directly from your SSI Center, online after logging into your personal profile - Training - Certifications - Order replacement card or https://my.divessi.com/order_replacement_card , or in the app via Settings - Feedback - Replacement card. Here you also have the option of uploading proof of certifications.

Upon certification, your Training Center will issue a digital certification. If you have opted to receive and paid for a plastic copy of your certification card but haven't received it yet, please contact the Training Center where you paid for and completed your training.

Your digital recognition card is usually generated when the prerequisites are met. For example, a certain number of logged and verified dives and/or specialty courses completed. Please contact your SSI Training Center if you have met the prerequisites but the card does not appear automatically.

Your SSI Training Center can add certification cards from other diving organizations to your profile as NON-SSI certifications. Specialty courses from other diving organizations can count towards the SSI recognition level (see SSI Standards). Recently, the front and back of the NON-SSI card can also be entered into the system so that it is visible in your personal profile with all the data.

All logged dives count, and logbook verification is optional.
Verification is only required if you want your dives to count towards SSI achievements.
Verification can only be done by an SSI Training Center or SSI Professional by scanning their QR code for the dives.
SSI Training Centers can also update dives when issuing a new certification or recognition card by changing your total number of logged dives.
To make sure your Diver Level, your Records and your Awards are updated in the MySSI system, visit your SSI Training Center.

If you dive with a training center/buddy/organization that is not affiliated with SSI and would like to have those non-verified dives counted towards SSI awards/achievements, you can simply visit an SSI training center to have those dives verified. These dives must be verified by scanning an SSI Training Centre/- or SSI Professional QR code to be considered for the Max Depth = Deepest Dive or Longest Dive award. Most divers do not do this for every dive - they log their dives regularly and then visit their SSI Training Centre from time to time to get their latest dives (the last dive, possibly the latest deepest and the longest) verified. This makes the Total Dives, Max. Depth and Longest Dive are updated in the SSI Awards system.

Entering dives in your own profile at https://my.divessi.com/myprofile has no effect on SSI AWARDS or recognition levels, as this number can be changed by yourself. Dives must be logged and verified in the correct order with date and dive number to count towards achievements. The number of dives will only count towards Total Dives achievements if the number of the logged dive is higher than the previous ones AND the dive has been verified. So if you already had dives in your profile that were verified via certification, your achievements will show 10 dives, for example, even though there are no dives or dives with a number lower than 10 in your logbook yet. In this case, you must enter and verify the most recent dive with the number 11. This can also be changed later by removing the verification from dives that have already been verified and adjusting the number of the dive. The dives must then be verified again to count towards the achievements. The number of Total Dives in the Awards and in your online profile will only change if an SSI Training Center/- or SSI Professional QR Code has been scanned for the last dive, a client receives a new certification or recognition card AND the SSI Training Center changes the number of dives during the certification process. The deepest or longest dive must be verified by scanning any SSI Training Center/SSI Professional QR Code to appear in the achievements.

Logged dives must be entered correctly and saved prior to logging out of the App or Desktop. If any information is missing, the dive may only be saved as a draft until it is completed. Improperly saved dives and drafts will not be available after you log out of the App or Desktop.
Note that deleting and then reinstalling the App will delete the information on your mobile device only. Once you've completed the reinstall, you can synchronize content with the MySSI Server where the saved data is located.

General Information for Exporting Dives from MARES Dive Computers to the MySSI/MARES App: To successfully transfer dive data using a BlueLink device, the following requirements must be met: Location Services: GPS tracking and location access must be enabled on both your mobile device and within the app (for iOS and Android). Bluetooth Settings: Ensure your MARES dive computer is NOT PAIRED in your device’s Bluetooth settings. If it is, UNPAIR it before starting the transfer. Environment: Perform the data transfer in a vibration-free environment to avoid connection issues. Common Errors and Troubleshooting: Outdated Firmware: Check that both your dive computer and/or BlueLink clip have the latest firmware installed. Connection Issues: Inspect the contacts on your device and/or BlueLink clip for any debris or damage that may affect the connection. Low Battery: Ensure both the dive computer and/or the BlueLink device have sufficient battery charge before initiating the transfer.

For a complete list of compatible dive computers, please refer to the app description in the app store. Supported devices can be imported directly via the MySSI/MARES App or synchronized through the SCUBAPRO LogTrack App, then transferred to the SSI/MARES logbook. Our development team is actively working to expand compatibility. However, integrating dive computers from other brands remains a challenge due to limited access to the required technical data from those manufacturers.

If a dive/freedive is verified by an SSI Training Center or SSI Professional for the SSI Awards, the core data of this dive is locked for editing after verification. For fun dives, the user can revoke the verification in order to edit the core data of the dive/freedive, but this will result in the loss of the award. To re-verify the dive/freedive, please either scan the SSI Training Center/- or SSI Professional QR code again, OR add the center to the corresponding column of the dive in the logbook. The center/pro will then receive an info and can verify the dive remotely. Training dives that have been verified by SSI Training Centers or SSI Professionals can only be opened for editing by re-scanning the SSI Training Center/- or SSI Professional QR code.

Changing units of measure in the MySSI App is easy just by clicking Menu, Settings, and Setting and Sync, or in your online profile at www.my.divessi.com/login and myProfile. NOTE: Your SSI Training Center can also update your units of measure.

The type of wildlife displayed depends on the dive site data (fresh/salt water). Since the database is quite large, synchronization may take some time even with a good connection.

If you have lost your login details, the first thing you should do is contact your SSI Center, as they can see in your profile which email you originally registered with. Your center can adjust/edit this. Or go to Settings - Feedback in the app or on the website www.divessi.com and click on the “Login“ button in the top right of the screen. On the next page, click on the “Forgot password“ button - then on the next screen, click on Contact and write a message to the support team.

If you have forgotten your password, go to LogIn - Forgot password in the app or go to www.divessi.com and click on the “Login“ button in the top right of the screen. On the next page, click on the “Forgot password“ link and follow the instructions to reset your password. NOTE: The password reset email will only be sent to the email address you originally used to register. If you do not know your original email address or password, contact an SSI Center as they can see and change the email address in your profile.

Please make sure you are using the latest version of the MySSI app with all updates available for the device. Then sync the content by clicking the “Sync All“ button via the gear icon on the app home page under “Settings - Settings and Sync“. If the data has not synced or the problem persists, the app may need to be reinstalled. ATTENTION - Dives that are not synced (red arrow) will be deleted. For a clean reinstall, the old version must be uninstalled, the device must be restarted (IMPORTANT) and then the updated version must be installed! If you are unable to log in, please follow the lost/forgotten password instructions on the login page. Or contact a/your SSI Center to change the existing email. If the problem persists, click the gear icon in the top right and submit a feedback/support request via the app.

You have various options for making changes to your personal data. You can change data in your MySSI App profile via Menu - Settings - Profile and then synchronise them if you have an internet connection. Or you can log in to my.divessi.com/login and navigate to my.divessi.com/myProfile. You can also ask your SSI Training Centre to change your profile.

You can access your profile settings via the menu (bar at the bottom) and log out at the very bottom by clicking the red Logout button. Logging in and then logging out after you've completed your online work synchronizes content and insures that your data is up-to-date.

Check if you have allowed GPS access to the MySSI App in the settings of your device.

MySSI App and my.divessi.com are two different systems, each synchronizing with the external course server according to its own time window. Please make sure that all content in the MySSI App has been synchronized with the online content while you are connected to the internet (Settings - Synchronization - Synchronize all button). It can take up to 48 hours for the program progress made in the MySSI App to be viewed online from my.divessi.com. Logging out of the MySSI app resets all achieved course progress in the app - see warning notice when logging out! NOTE: Viewing course progress is NOT a prerequisite for certification!

This course was registered by your SSI Training Centre as a rental version (no videos in the MySSI App - only online at my.divessi.com). Access to the course material (MySSI App and my.divessi.com/mytraining) expires upon certification OR after six months at the latest, whichever comes first. Please contact your SSI Training Centre to upgrade to the Diamond version with lifetime access.

The problem of jumping pages is 99% caused by a waek mobile internet connection and/or when you jump back and forth between the MySSI App and my.divessi.com/mycourses to view the course materials. Perhaps you first opened the course materials in the MySSI online portal and then switched to the app? SOLUTION: Download the program in the MySSI App and use it offline in flight mode OR disable the use of mobile data for the MySSI App in the device settings while reading.

If there are problems installing a programme, it can be completely reloaded. First check if you are connected to the internet. If the programme was already downloaded, please try to clear the cache for the corresponding course first. To do this, go to the courses you want via Menu - Courses and Maps and tap on the corresponding programme icon - then on Programme Information and on REMOVE COURSE CONTENT. This will only delete the already downloaded contents of this programme. If this does not lead to the desired result, please delete the entire course cache (ATTENTION: this will remove ALL downloaded programme content.) To do this, go to Menu - Settings - PROGRAMS - Delete all course content. As a last option, the MySSI App can also be uninstalled, the device MUST be restarted after uninstallation. Afterwards, the latest version of the MySSI App can be reinstalled from the Apple Store or Google Play Store.

You can update or change your personal information in your SSI profile at any time by logging in to your SSI profile.
Go to > Personal Data > Profile > MyProfile and make the changes as needed. Note that you will not be able to change your date of birth and will need to contact your SSI Training Center or SSI Service Center to request that it be changed.

Changes made in your SSI profile should also be communicated to your SSI Training Center so that their written records can be updated as appropriate.

Once you have completed an SSI course you will have the opportunity to complete the SSI Course Review questionnaire. The questionaire is short and easily completed. In the event that your response indicates that SSI Standards are not being met, we do take immediate action to investigate and resolve the problem so please make sure that the information you provide is correct to the best of your knowledge.
SSI uses quality management tools to monitor course and instructor performance. Each SSI Training Center has a designated, highly qualified instructor responsible for monitoring quality issues.

You can always contact your SSI Training Center, your SSI Diving Instructor or your SSI Service Center with any course specific feedback you may have. Simply talk to us, call or write us an email and let us know what you think. All SSI Service Centers can be contacted by telephone, email, fax, or through the local postal service and will usually respond within 24 hours.

Affiliate with a new Training Center by clicking the green button *Select Training Center and submit personal data*. This will add a new Training Center to your list and has no negative impact nor does it delete previous affiliations.

Courses which were registered through the Training Center will remain with the Training Center unless you also request these be re-assigned.

Note that on this screen you can also set a Training Center as the Master Training Center or completely remove your affiliation to a Training Center.
Every SSI diver must be affiliated with an SSI Training Center or SSI Service Center. It is best to affiliate to Training Centers with whom you will be diving in the near future and those which offer an appropriate course selection. A freediving only Training Center will likely not be able to provide extended range courses, for example. There is no limit to the number of Training Centers you can be affiliated to.

The Dive Trophy is an annual event hosted by SSI/Mares in conjunction with Robinson Club, Unterwasser magazine and other organizations. It provides an opportunity for divers to show their skills in a competitive but fun environment. The top 100 divers compete for the chance to participate in the final round which is held at Robinson Club Soma Bay in Egypt. It is currently limited to the German speaking areas of Europe.

SSI does normally not send plastic certification cards directly to divers. The quickest way to resolve this is to contact your SSI Training Center and advise them of the problem. Make sure to mention exactly what certification you did not receive.
By default SSI provides you with a digital certification card. If you did not specifically request a plastic card from your Training Center, it may well be that you were only certified digitally. Please review your agreement/contract with the Training Center to determine what was agreed upon before following up on this.

SSI certifications issued before 2007 may not appear in the online database and will need to be manually added to your profile. Please use the replacement card order tool in your MySSI profile under Marketing & Service, or contact your SSI Service Center by email and provide scans or photographs of the front and back sides of each certification card you received. Make sure that the image is clear and that the information can be read. Please also include the name of the instructor, name of the Training Center, location of the Training Center and date of certification if this information is not clearly visible on the certification. If you no longer have the certification cards then please provide scans of the appropriate pages of your logbook and logbook sign-off pages.
Your SSI Service Center can also check existing data archives to confirm certification data but will need the information noted above to do so.

You should first contact your SSI Training Center to find out what you need to do to obtain an Advanced Open Water Diver certification. The minimum requirements for this certification are: 5 adventure dives in various specialty programs, of which 3 can be chosen freely and 2 are mandatory dives (Deep Diving and Navigation). The completed specialty dives can be credited towards completing a full specialty course.
The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver certification is equivalent to the Advanced Open Water Diver certification offered by other organizations.

SSI and Mares usually share stands at trade shows or are located in close proximity to each other. If Mares representatives are attending then there will likely be someone from SSI there too.

MySSI is the SSI designation for the system we use to manage information.
MySSI works best with the most current versions of Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari. There may be compatibility issues with older versions or other browsers.

The MySSI App is a software application for Apple and Android devices which can be downloaded to smart phones and tablets. The app features functionality very similar to the MySSI System browser version. The main advantage of the App is the ability to download course content to the device and work on the course even when offline. The MySSI App is updated frequently and it is important to always have the most current version to insure the best functionality. The App also has a version of the SSI Digital Logbook with enhanced functionality which enables you to very accurately log your dives.
The MySSI App is currently not available for Windows mobile devices.

Course content can be saved on devices using the Android and iOS operating systems when using the MySSI App.
SSI does not currently offer the option to download and locally store course content on your personal computer.

SSI provides two versions of programs: Diamond and Rental. Both Versions can be donwloaded via the MySSI App (Rental only No -Video version). The access to Rental Version is limited to 6 months or until user has been certified, whatever comes first.
Rental courses are only available through select overseas SSI dive resorts.

Diamond courses include MySSI Desktop/browser and MySSI App access, rental courses are accessible during the time the course is active.

SSI divers who completed SSI courses prior to 01 JAN 2015 have the option to purchase a one time upgrade to Diamond Status. Diamond Status includes both MySSI Desktop and MySSI App access to course materials. This enables them to view course content as if they had originally purchased a diamond course and applies to all courses completed prior to 01 JAN 2015.
The upgrade is carried out by the Training Center and is visible in the diver's profile when viewed under . It does not apply to courses registered after 01 JAN 2015. Those courses need to be individually upgraded if desired.

Divers purchase their course at an SSI Training Center where they are electronically registered for the course. They are taught there by SSI instructors. Upon successful completion of the theoretical and practical portions of the course as well as a final exam divers are certified by the diving instructor through the Training Center. If no other option was selected, a digital certification is issued which is visible in the diver's profile and can be confirmed with the diver verification feature. For divers who specifically request a plastic certification card (C-Card) the Training Center can order this from SSI at the time the certification is entered. This is an immediate online transaction. Training Centers with a card printer can print and issue the card immediately. For all other Training Centers the request to print the card is forwarded electronically to the local SSI service center which then prints and sends the card to the Training Center. The Training Center then gives the printed card to the diver.
The diver's first point of contact in the event of problems is always the Training Center where the course was purchased. In the event that the problem cannot be resolved with the Training Center, it may be appropriate to contact the SSI service center. It is however important to understand that your SSI service center has no access to the sales contract and/or agreement between the diver and the Training Center. SSI does not normally send cards directly to divers.

In order to be registered for an SSI course it is necessary to have an up to date SSI diver's profile with a current photograph and correct number of logged dives. The system will not allow certifications to be issued if there is no photograph in the profile. Your SSI Training Center can provide you with more specific information if required.

An SSI diver's profile contains all the information necessary for an SSI Training Center to issue an SSI certification. The profile is designed be be maintained by the diver with password protected online access. It can be created by the diver or the diver's SSI Training Center. Each profile has a unique diver number (master identification/diver number) which is also printed on any certifications issued to this diver.
Divers who have received an SSI certification since 2007 have an online SSI diver's profile. If problems arise in finding the profile as it was originally created, please contact the local SSI Service Center and do not create a new profile as any previously received certifications will not be visible in the new profile.
SSI divers have a large number of functions in their profile which they can personalize to best meet their needs.

A crossover involves the transfer of Instructor level certifications from one diving organisation, e.g., BSAC, NAUI, CMAS, to another on a 1:1 transfer basis. It applies only to persons who have been certified as diving professionals/diving instructors by internationally recognized diving organisations and want to obtain SSI equivalency ratings for these certifications. A list of organisations which can currently be "crossed" to SSI can be found in the SSI Training Standards.
Non SSI professionals cannot have their certifications crossed to SSI although SSI will recognize them for purposes of subsequent SSI certifications. Certifications from other diving organisations must be entered in your SSI diver's profile to be taken into consideration. Please contact your Training Center in person with your logbook and copies of the certifications to get them entered.

An SSI Professional is someone who has been certified at the equivalent SSI level of Professional Dive Guide or above.

An SSI Professional is someone who has been certified at the equivalent SSI level of Professional Dive Guide or above. An active SSI Professional and has paid their annual membership fees to SSI and is affiliated with an active SSI Training Center. Only active SSI Professionals may teach and certify courses.
SSI also offers the option to be certified as a Dive Guide without professional status. Please contact your SSI Training Center for further information on this certification.
All SSI Professionals have an SSI Professional number which appears on all certifications that they certified.

A diving instructor is someone who has been trained, certified and is therfore authorized to teach divers specific skills required for certification through an SSI Training Center.
All SSI Diving Instructors have an SSI Professional number which appears on all certifications that have been issued with their approval. The Open Water Instructor is the lowest level SSI instructor who is authorized to teach Open Water Diver courses without assistance.

Regardless of your query we will always need your full name. Ideally you can include your date of birth too if your query relates to SSI certifications.

A non-SSI certification is a certification issued by an internationally recognized diving organization which can be used to help attain certification goals as an SSI diver. Non-SSI certifications can be added to your SSI diver's profile by your SSI Training Center.
Note that SSI cannot issue replacements for non-SSI certifications, in particular those from the YMCA or NASDS.
Non-SSI certifications with no SSI equivalent cannot be counted toward SSI recognition cards (Specialty Diver, Advanced Specialty Diver, Master Diver). A 1:1 transfer of non-SSI certifications to SSI certifications at the diver level is not possible.

To get non-SSI certifications added to your profile it is best to take the original documentation and certifications to your Training Center so that these can be checked and confirmed before entry in your SSI profile. Your SSI Service Center can also enter non-SSI certifications if you provide scanned copies of the certification cards (front and back side) and clarify any missing details.

Your SSI Training Center should be your first stop if you have questions about SSI or your training.
If the Training Center is unable to help, they will refer you to your SSI Service Center. Contact the Service Center by email unless the matter is exceptionally urgent. If you do not have the name/email address of a specific person you can use the online contact form to submit an initial request. If you are logged in and use the contact form, messages sent via the contact form will be routed based on which SSI Service Center is responsible for your area.
Your SSI service center will respond to your message in a timely manner. If you do not receive a response within 2 working days then it might be best to call and/or write another message. Each SSI profile in MySSI System has a unique diver identification number. As each diver should only have one SSI profile, each diver should therefore only have one diver identification number but it does sometimes happen that multiple profiles exist for the same person. If you determine that you have multiple profiles, please contact your SSI Training Center or SSI Service Center to resolve the problem.
Your diver identification number is shown on most SSI certifications at the bottom of the digital image or card in the format Online Diver Verification: divessi.com/dv/XXXXXXX . Each SSI Professional has a unique 5 digit SSI professional number. These numbers are only assigned once to one person for life. They appear on all certifications issued by the SSI professional and are the primary means SSI uses to identify SSI professionals.

An SSI certification is proof that a specific course or level of instruction has been completed. A valid SSI certification contains at least a current photograph of the diver, the name of the course, the date of completion, the name and number of the instructor, the name of the Training Center, the 23 digit card number, the Training Center logo, a diving since date, the number of dives, a QR code, the diver's diver identification number, and the web address for SSI. On the reverse side of the card is an image appropriate to the certification, the name of the course/certification and an SSI logo.
Alterations to SSI certifications make these invalid although very old cards could have an expiration sticker attached.

SSI certifications are currently issued in a digital format. Divers who would like to have a hard copy in plastic can order these credit card sized certifications from their SSI Training Center or SSI Service Center at additional cost.

An SSI logbook provides you with a permanent, written record of your diving progress, important diving information, and certification history. It also contains very useful information, tables and other data. SSI logbooks can be ordered through your SSI Training Center but not from SSI service centers.
SSI also offers an electronic logbook through the MySSI App which can also be accessed through your internet browser.
A properly maintained and well organized logbook provides you with an ideal historical reference and is an excellent fall back option in the event you should lose a certification card.

The best way to report problems with the MySSI App is to use the support/feedback function in the App itself. Important details are sent with your report which help our App Support Team to identify and resolve the problem quickly.
Submitting an error report using the standard contact form in MySSI System is not an effective way to address App problems as these are usually associated with a large number of variables that are only communicated through the App support request such as which device you are using, which App version, the operating system and version, available memory, etc.

Freediving is diving without any mechanical breathing apparatus, relying completely on your own ability to efficiently use your own body's oxygen reserve to dive for progressively longer periods of time, based on training and experience. Scuba is the abbreviation for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus and refers to the breathing gear, which enables you to remain under water for much longer than you would be able to without the device. Scuba diver is simply the term used for someone who dives with a SCUBA device.

Plastic certification cards (C-Cards) which are printed by SSI Service Centers are normally sent directly to the Training Center which ordered them. The cards are sent with the standard postal service.
Many SSI Training Centers have their own card printer and can issue their cards on site. Others have a special agreement to have their cards printed and sent from another location. Please contact your Training Center to confirm how they handle card orders and shipping if you have questions in this regard.

Not only distance can cause delays to card shipments. Local and national holidays as well as local business practices and a lack of internet reliability can also lead to delays. The more remote the Training Center, the more likely it will be that the card will take longer to complete the trip. If your card doesn't arrive within 4 weeks however, it is a good idea to advise the issuing Training Center.


If you believe that a plastic certification card was included in the fees you paid to your SSI Training Center then you will need to contact that Training Center if you do no receive a plastic certification card within a reasonable amount of time.

A Divemaster (DM) is the professional level which is automatically attained when an active Professional Dive Guide has completed the Science of Diving Specialty Program. The SSI Divemaster rating recognizes candidates that have the knowledge and training necessary to perform the duties of a certified assistant. These duties including assisting SSI Instructors with conducting entry-level and continuing education scuba training programs. In addition to the duties performed by an active status Professional Dive Guide, active status Divemasters may:
Act as a certified assistant for all SSI recreational scuba courses.
Assist during open water training dives by taking no more than two (2) students at a time on excursion dives.

Assistant Instructor (AI) is the next professional level after Divemaster. The SSI AI program is intended to provide candidates with the knowledge and training necessary to perform the duties of an assistant instructor. These duties including conducting entry-level scuba training under the supervision of an Open Water Instructor and conducting Scuba Skills Updates, Try Scuba and Perfect Buoyancy programs independently. Dive Guide Not Activated;

The SSI Instructor Training Course is intended to provide candidates with the knowledge and training necessary to organize and conduct entry-level scuba training courses. It is also intended to prepare the participants as needed to successfully complete an Instructor Evaluation.
Participants must be certified as an SSI Assistant Instructor or equivalent, have at least 75 open water dives, an EAN Nitrox 40% certification and be at least 18 years old.

ITC; Instructor Training Course

The SSI Instructor Evaluation assesses the knowledge and skills necessary to organize and conduct entry-level scuba training courses. Participants must have successfully completed an Instructor Training Course (ITC). The Open Water Instructor (OWI) certification is awarded upon completion of the Instructor Evaluation.

The SSI Scuba Skills Update program is intended to provide certified divers with a safe and enjoyable way to refresh and update their skills. It can also provide non-certified Open Water Diver students with another practice session before participating in their open water training dives.

The Advanced Open Water Instructor (AOWI) is the next instructor recognition rating after Open Water Instructor and is awarded automatically once the following requirements have been met:
1. Be certifed as an active status Open Water Instructor.
2. Be qualifed to conduct at least four (4) Specialty programs, including Diver Stress and Rescue.
3. Have issued at least 15 Specialty or Advanced Adventurer certifications.

Divemaster Instructor (DMI) is the next instructor recognition level after Advanced Open Water Instructor (AOWI). In addition to the duties performed by an active status Advanced Open Water Instructor, active status Divemaster Instructors may:
1. Conduct the Divemaster Crossover program for candidates from other recognized scuba training agencies.
2. Enroll in an Assistant Instructor Trainer program.

A Specialty Instructor (SPI) is an Assistant Instructor (AI) who has received further training providing him with the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to conduct specific SSI Specialty programs. Specialty Instructors (Assistant Instructor rating) may qualify to teach the following Specialty programs:
Altitude Diving
Boat Diving
Computer Diving
Equipment Techniques
Navigation
Perfect Buoyancy
Photo & Video
Science of Diving
Waves, Tides & Currents

An Ecology Specialty Training Specialist who has the SSI Divemaster rating may qualify to teach the Ecology Specialty programs.

An Open Water Instructor may qualify to teach any SSI Specialty Program.

A React Right Instructor is certified to teach the React Right program. React Right is SSI's Emergency Training Program specifically tailored to the dive training environment. Learn the "How-To" of First Aid, CPR, AED and Oxygen administration in diving emergencies as well as emergency assessment, so that any emergency situation can be evaluated properly.

The Assistant Instructor Trainer (AIT) is the instructor level after the Divemaster Instructor (DMI) . In addition to the programs taught by Specialty Instructors, active status AIT may teach, supervise and issue certifications for the following programs:
Assistant Instructor
Specialty Instructor if they possess the applicable Specialty Instructor certification
Active status Assistant Instructor Trainers may also assist an Instructor Trainer in conducting all SSI Instructor-level programs.

Master Instructor (MI) is the instructor recognition rating after Assistant Instructor Trainer (AIT). In addition to other requirements an AIT must have issued a minimum of 150 certifications at the following levels:
75 Scuba Diver and/or Open Water Diver
50 Specialty and/or Advanced Adventurer
15 Diver Stress and Rescue
5 Dive Guide
5 Assistant Instructors
In addition to the duties performed by an active status Assistant Instructor Trainer, active status Master Instructors may apply to enroll in an Instructor Trainer Seminar.

An Instructor Trainer (IT) is a Master Instructor who has applied for and successfully completed an SSI Instructor Trainer Seminar (ITS). Instructor Trainer Seminars are conducted by SSI Service Centers. An IT is authorized to organize and conduct SSI Instructor-level scuba training courses. In addition to the programs taught by Master Instructors, active status Instructor Trainers may:
Conduct Instructor Training Courses.
Conduct SSI Professional Crossover programs (up to Master Instructor level
Assist an Instructor Certifier in conducting all SSI Instructor Evaluation programs.

Upon completion of an Instructor Certifier Seminar and fulfillment of all other prerequisites, candidates are awarded the Instructor Certifier (IC) certification, currently the highest level instructor certification for persons not employed directly by SSI. In addition to the programs taught by Instructor Trainers, active status Instructor Certifers may teach, supervise and issue certifications for the following programs:
Instructor Evaluations
SSI Professional Crossovers for candidates from training agencies that are not ISO Certified and/or an RSTC Member.

The World Recreational Scuba Training Council (WRSTC) is an international diving organisation and is dedicated to the worldwide safety of the recreational diving public. As such, one of the WRSTC’s primary goals is the development of worldwide minimum training standards. The establishment of globally recognized and implemented standards is a valuable asset in addressing local and national regulatory issues. In the US the organisation is called the RSTC, in Europe the RSTC Europe, in Canada the RSTC Canada and in Japan the C-Card Council. SSI is a member of the RSTC Europe.

SSI uses the term certification card to refer specifically to the digital or plastic card that divers receive upon completion of a specific SSI course. Other terms frequently used for this purpose are certification, c-card, d-card, and brevet.

Your SSI certification, whether digital or printed, is proof that you completed a specific course. It must not only identify the specific course but also the specific person. SSI does this by including your name and picture on the card.
It is important that you be identifiable and your picture is up to date. Pictures showing you with a mask, sunglasses or other articles which effectively make identification unlikely are therefore not acceptable.

SSI courses are primarily tailored to meet the safety needs of the divers involved, course objectives and the environment in which actual dives take place as well as the technical difficulty of the subject matter. Not only is the human body more developed as one gets older but there is also increased experience, understanding and ability to assess risk and react to problems. SSI has implemented specific age restrictions to insure that the diving experience remains a safe and secure sport accessible to the broadest range of participants possible.
