This wasn't the story I originally planned on writing. I think we matched on Sports Night? And I was going to remix a West Wing story, but then I read this little ficlet, which is Garcia's POV on the final scene, and I could see Morgan at the party, realizing that he didn't want to do the playboy thing anymore, that he wanted to begin the year as he meant to go on, with Garcia. The original remix subtitle was in fact "Begin as you mean to go on" but it felt too on the nose *snerk* and I've always liked "Begin the Beguine," so that seemed to work just as well.

I've written a story from Garcia's POV, but I'd never written Morgan at all, so I was worried about that, and it was slow going at first, because I just wanted to get him to Garcia, but I think it turned out all right.

Also, I changed the way I usually format my stories, using ::: instead of *** in between sections. I don't know if that threw anyone off the scent (I doubt anyone would have guessed I wrote this even without that, though the fact that Firefly gets namechecked was a clue), and then I completely failed to do that with any of the stories that actually could easily have been recognized as mine. (though with the girl!Sam I figured there was no way to actually hide that that was me. *snerk*) I suck at pretending not to be me.
