Example Faction

This is an example of a "Factions" page.

Factions have a few special characteristics. They allow for selecting an optional "parent", a faction of which they are a subset, that if set is displayed within the page's header as well as in other locations where the page is linked (such as its category's grid view). It is also listed on the parent faction, on the "sub-factions" page; by way of example, this faction has a single sub-faction. Factions also allow for setting formation and/or dissolution dates using existing places (pages in the "Places" subject), dates using units of time specified in the admin panel under "Time", and chronology (broad span of time).

Factions can also have named ranks and members; these are displayed on the "ranks and members" page. Factions can have any number of ranks, corresponding to named roles within them. These may optionally have a limit to the number of people that can occupy them; this will prevent additional people from being added to them if there are already that number of people occupying the rank.

A faction's membership, meanwhile, is comprised of "People" pages. Members can hold multiple (non-duplicate) ranks within a faction-- or no rank at all, in which case they are listed in the general member list.
