The effect of artificial ventilation, apnea, and norepinephrine administration on heart rate vari... more The effect of artificial ventilation, apnea, and norepinephrine administration on heart rate variability was determined in brain-damaged rabbits. Electrocardiographic R-R intervals and circulatory variables were measured for 5 min at three different ventilatory frequencies, including apnea under isoflurane general anesthesia. The same measurements were repeated after brain damage was inflicted by an inflated intracranial balloon. In control rabbits (n = 8) and in those receiving norepinephrine (n = 8), power spectral analysis of R-R intervals was repeated, and spectral components of low (LF: 0.04-0.09 Hz), mid (MF: 0.09-0.15 Hz), and high (HF: 0.15-0.40 Hz) frequency band areas were assessed. LF + MF (P < 0.05) increased during apnea, whereas HF did not change under general anesthesia. However, after brain damage in both groups LF + MF did not change, whereas HF was depressed (P < 0.05). There was no intergroup difference in decreases of HF/(LF + MF) (P < 0.05) during apnea under either condition. Norepinephrine increased heart rate and arterial pressure (P < 0.05) but did not produce any intergroup difference in the spectral components. We suggest that sympathovagal balance is apt to be sympathotonic during apnea under general anesthesia, whereas it is vagolytic with brain damage.

By inhibiting acetylcholinesterase mechanism, chronic organophosphate poisoning may lead some cognitive consequences included attention deficit and memory impairment. This study investigates the effect of chronic organophosphate exposure in attention deficit and memory impairment. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2 different groups, each consisting of 33 male farmers in Banjarnegara, aged 18-59 years old who are occupationally exposed to organophosphate pesticide for at least 2 years. First group was carried on memory examination using memory impairment screen (MIS) instrument while in second group, attention examination was measured by attention network test (ANT). Jumlah cairan dalam tubuh manusia adalah sekitar 60% dari rata-rata berat badan. Cairan ditambahkan ke dalam tubuh melalui dua jalur, yang pertama adalah melalui konsumsi air dan cairan dalam makanan yang menyumbang cairan tubuh sebanyak 2100 ml/hari. Selain itu juga dari sintesis cairan oleh tubuh sendiri melalui hasil oksidasi karbohidrat sebesar 200 ml/hari. Cairan tubuh terdiri dari air dan elektrolit. Cairan tubuh dibedakan menjadi cairan intrasel dan cairan ekstrasel. Cairan ekstrasel terdiri dari cairan intersisial dan plasma. 1,10 Elektrolit merupakan senyawa di dalam larutan yang berdisosiasi menjadi partikel yang bermuatan (ion) positif yang disebut kation atau bermuatan negatif yang disebut dengan anion. Method: An observational study with cross sectional design was conducted in UKM Batik Kanfer Banyumanik and Kampung Batik Semarang 16. Background: Sexuality is an integral part of adult human life, including for individuals with a d... more Background: Sexuality is an integral part of adult human life, including for individuals with a disability. Even though sexuality is a fundamental right of human life, however, for a person with an intellectual disability, expressing and exploring sexuality is limited. This study aimed to determine the reliability and validity of ASQ-ID in the Indonesian language. Methods: A cross-sectional observational study designed for adaptation and validation of the Attitudes toward Sexuality Questionnaire in Intellectual Disability (ASQ-ID) of the Indonesian version was conducted in 2019. The study subjects were 617 students of Universitas Diponegoro, Indonesia. The translation process was composed of 5 steps: translation, synthesis, back translation, and semantic and conceptual analysis testing. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) with principal component analysis (PCA) as a method of extraction and varimax rotation was used to identify the structure/dimensionality of observed data and identify clusters of inter-correlated variables. Pearson's r-correlation test was used to evaluate the correlation between the original and Indonesian adaptation of ASQ-ID. Cronbach-alpha was computed across all factors/sub-scales to examine the internal consistency of the adapted questionnaire. Results: Reliability analysis showed Cronbach alpha and composite reliability of items of the Indonesia version of ASQ-ID was high. EFA analysis revealed 7 emerging factors and 28 items of solutions. The items were regroup into 4 subscales based on the original ASQ-ID sub-scales. Conclusion: The Indonesian version of ASQ-ID has high validity and reliability in measuring the attitudes toward sexuality in individuals with ID.
