 citabria had her commencement today for her A.S. degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales. We were at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence which, no surprise, has Dunkin Donuts concession stands. But I digress. It was a happy, fun ceremony. Renee's degree had her sitting near the back of the auditorium but she bounced across the stage when her name was called. (My picture of that didn't come out well.) She hasn't stopped grinning yet.Afterward we celebrated at Pho Paradise in the Elmwood neighborhood of Providence which was great--I hadn't had Vietnamese cuisine in some time and this was her second in a long while. We also explored the Restaurant Depot nearby, too. We felt like such amateurs--one guy was rolling a half-ton of corn meal and 200 pounds of potatoes out the door as we walked in. On the bright side, we didn't go in with a cart to keep us from buying anything we couldn't carry. We weren't tempted to buy the 50 lb bag of high-gluten flour for $17.00. (Hurm. She's already started working on her B.S. in Culinary Nutrition so we'll be back in a couple of years for another photo. |
