Last week was a LOT. I oversaw the removal of a bunch of Barbara Hepworth sculptures (with only minor niggles, everything got out safely and I feel so much better being able to say that) and at the same time managed to open a temporary schools' art prize exhibition and a longer term textile exhibition AND assist with two events and I was so tired on Friday and I'm still so tired but I have to keep telling myself if I survived all that the next few weeks should be gravy (right?)

I did manage some fun stuff along the way like the amazing Aurora Orchestra, Berlioz prom (watch that clip and then go watch the rest on iPlayer!) and on the way to that I had a lovely afternoon in London wandering round Hatchards and Fortnum & Mason and then having a drink on the roof of Harvey Nichols (which was hilarious and amazing in equal measure).

Then tonight I watched Enchanted because it was on TV and I could watch that film over and over ♥

There was a post going round on tumblr about wanting a reverse Christmas movie where a woman leaves her small town beau to go to New York for "reasons" and falls in love and gets a job and realises this makes her happy and I ABSOLUTELY want that film but also I realised tonight Enchanted kind of is that? And the oppostite all at once? And apparently critics don't like the big romantic ballad at the end (So Close) but I really really do.

Anyway here's to next week being calmer (I don't believe it for a second) or at least as successful (with a bit of luck I can manage that).

A hot toddy & good music
This week has been something of a wash out as I was struck down by a cold at the start of the week and despite my best efforts at rest and vitamins it has, inevitably, developed into a lovely cough. Even better when I went to grab my inhaler in the hopes I could at least keep it short I discovered it's expired /o\ It's good I don't need my inhaler often but this is not a thing that had occurred to me :-/ In theory I can apply for a repeat prescription through my surgery online and it will be ready for me on Tuesday so I'll try that but I'm kicking myself so hard.

On the otherhand I did help out as an extra concert steward yesterday and got to hear Kerry Ellis from a front row seat so that was good (and yes I know that isn't resting but I had 30 minutes of craziness as I took in tickets and then I sat and enjoyed the concert and occasionally directed people to the toilets so it wasn't exactly hard work!)

Anyway I'm now curled up with a hot toddy watching the Proms (Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra ♥) and trying to convince my lungs to remain calm and steady because I need to drive to Stratford upon Avon tomorrow.

Today I am bribing myself to do tidying & sorting by interspersing it with more interesting things like posting about the theatre I've missed (though possibly it's that I'm bribing myself with a tidy & sorted room to ACTUALLY POST about the things I've seen I'm not entirely sure!

Anyway.

Two weeks ago today tikiaceae, ciorstaidh and I headed to the Royal Albert Hall to queue for Promming tickets to the Horrible Histories Prom.

There was quite a queue already when we arrived but another half an hour later it was getting to ridiculous proportions which suggests our timing was about right. And when we got into the RAH (after lots of sitting in the sun watching kids run up and down the queue and reading tweets from various performers- HH gang and the orchestra) we ended up really very near the front of the arena- about a dozen people back maybe?

Horrible Histories Family Prom (with the Aurora Orchestra) @ Royal Albert HallCollapse )

I already knew I loved the Horrible Histories lot before of course but I came away a bit in love with the Aurora Orchestra too... and their conductor Nicholas Collon who has fantastically bouncy hair when he gets excited *g* so we've already booked for another of their concerts! Which I suppose was the point- bringing people to new music!
