Photography News

I finally got all my old photos on CDs copied to Boomer (my TB storage drive). All of them. That's a tad over 23,000 files (20.3 GB), stretching from June 2000 to February 2010. There are duplicates, but I don't think it's as much as 5%. After processing a couple hundred more I'll be completely up-to-date.

Next, I need to burn backup DVDs (or, perhaps, thumb-drives) and store them off-site. I'll be sending email to a few of you asking to store them long-term.

I'm tempted to browse them as a trip down memory lane, but it really might be dawn before I finished and I've got a medical procedure in less than 12 hours for which I need to be rested.

Humans see three colors that, combined, allow us to enjoy the visible light spectrum. The mantis shrimp sees 12 colors, ranging into the near-ultraviolet to infrared parts of the spectrum. The creature can also distinguish different forms of polarized light.

Scientists now say this sea shrimp's remarkable eye could inspire a new generation of DVD and CD players.

Well I am sure Georgeanne knows the local crowd far better than I do, and what they might be likely to purchase.

Kiwi's sister, at whose home we're having the show, was strongly in favor of clock hands sweeping over body parts. She thinks it would sell well to the St Louis art crowd. I was initially putting the…

some of them are lovely photos, but the clock doesn't fit in well (e.g. kwan yin - there's no place for the clock to go). the chihuly tentacle is great in that respect, because there is a natural hub…

Geoff might well like to have this!! Some amazing pix came out of that day :) And I like the implied comparison of a clock=time with soap bubble=ephemerality... (is that a word??)
