The Moonlight Sonata

So tonight I spent a few hours in the emergency room. I was driving home from work and started coughing, and then my chest started hurting right over my heart, and it felt tight, and my left arm was kind of hurting, too. I wasn't sure how much of it was real symptoms and how much was psychosomatic, because that's the way my marvelous, special brain likes to fuck with me, so I got home, waited a bit, and it was still hurting off and on. So I took an ativan to see if it was just a panic attack, waited some more, and it was still hurting an hour after I got home. I was pretty sure it wasn't an actual heart attack, but I also know it's always better to err on the side of caution, especially when it comes to heart health.
So we went to the ER. They did an EKG, drew blood, did some chest x-rays and gave me 600 mg of ibuprofen. After 2 and a half hours, they said it was quite probably that I had strained a muscle in my chest right around my heart when I was coughing, and that's where the pain was.
The upside is that my EKG looked fantastic, my heart is very healthy, my lungs are clear, and multiple nurses complimented me on my nail art. ( nail artCollapse )
So not exactly how I planned to spend my Wednesday evening, but I'm fine in the end, which is what matters. And at least Peace of Mind will bill my insurance first, because it's a costly bitch some days.
And now I have waited up until the Star Trek "announcement trailer" dropped, and have watched it twice as well as advanced frame by frame through it, so now I'm going to go sleep, because for some reason lying around on a gurney for 3 hours while stressing about if I was okay or something was wrong or I was overreacting, etc. etc. has left me exhausted. I'll hit my tags tomorrow, lovelies. <333
