Generic human trigeminal nerve scaffold

In this workspace we have the mapping tool provenance data file needed to produce the generic human trigeminal nerve scaffold for the PRECISION Human Pain project. The mapping tool will be accessible from the release download page on the SPARC Portal.

Rendering of the generic human trigeminal nerve scaffold.

The trigeminal nerve scaffold is generated with a configurable network layout. A user can annotate the maxillary nerve, mandibular nerve, ophthalmic nerve, trigeminal ganglion and nerve root along the network layout and use that to define the respective regions of the trigeminal nerve. The ability to control dimensions such as wall thickness and length of the nerve regions, as well as variations of these properties throughout the entire length of the nerve allows the scaffold to be configurable for different network layout and sizes to support different species and individuals.

The human trigeminal nerve scaffold is created based on average dimensions and images obtained from literature.

The trigeminal nerve scaffold defines the geometric coordinates. The geometric coordinates field gives an approximate, idealized representation of the shape for the species, which is intended to be fitted to actual data for a specimen.

Please see the SPARC Portal for more details about the SPARC and PRECISION Human Pain project.
