Toward a comprehensive cardiomyocyte model

Toward a generic cardiomyocyte model

Here we track development of generic cardiomyocyte model. The figure below shows a preliminary diagram of a bond graph based approach to modelling the cardiomyocyte (see Hunter et al. (2025) for some background reading).

Schematic of the bond graph cardiomyocyte model.

This figure depicts the preliminary components of the generic cardiomyocyte bond graph model.

Electrophysiology

Initially, we work from the "Noble 2000" guinea pig ventricular cell model (PMR). For convenience we include here versions of that model producing a single stimulated action potential and a version with a periodic stimulus applied.

The Launch with OpenCOR menu item from the right hand "Views Available" menu can be used to open each of these simulation experiments in the OpenCOR desktop application to produce the results shown below.

Single action potential simulation results

This figure shows the results in OpenCOR for when a single stimulus pulse is applied to the Noble 2000 ventricular myocyte model.

Simulation results when a periodic stimulus applied

This figure shows the results in OpenCOR for the case when a stimulus pulse is applied with a 1 Hz frequency during the period 200 seconds to 600 seconds.
