Coven painted

Here are some of my painted Coven models for Pulp City. Not sure i like the added horns on the powerhouse. I see in the art work he has some ravens sitting on his shoulders. I will see if I have any in my bits box. Also the reason I think L.O.A is so static is because he can be used as the source of another Covens actions. ?

Here are some of my Grimms painted up. I still have a few more to do but happy that I have enough for a small 8 point game.

Not used the powerhouse “Tiny” yet but he looks like he will be a good addition to the crew. Nice models and lots of fun to paint.

I will use my proper camera to take some more picture of my other crews soon as my iPad doesn’t seem to be as good.

Here is the table we use (original created for playing Tabans Eden mini skirmish game). Its might not have enough height but seems to be ok.

Here are my three interceptors with 2 outlaw heads and some extra bags on the back mud guard. I need to get one more outlaw head for the last interceptor. Also made up another Iron Horse with his cav rifle strapped onto back. Here are some notes I made on the differences between an Iron Horser and an Interceptor to try and work out what weapons options to use on the Iron Horses. There is no reason to have split weapon types i.e. 1 Rocket Pod and 2 Mini Cannons.

Comments Both light support options have Gun It, Ride By Attack and Steady. Just some basic probability suggests that the Interceptor provide 3 hits with an effective power of 10 for each AP with a range of 24 but movement of 7. The Iron horse has variable effectiveness of .5, 2 and 3 with effective power of 10,7 and 12 for each AP with range of 18,18 and 36 with movement of 9.
The extra life blood and armour point on the Interceptor make them more robust compared to the iron horse. Combined with the extra range of 6” also boosts the Interceptors. The rocket Pod version of the iron horse with a range of 36” provides an alternative with effectiveness of 2 actions of .5  for 1 but its is not as effective as the interceptor with 2 actions of 3 = 6 albiet at at shorter range. Even accounting for the 3” blast, which will be negated by effective position of any models by the opposition the rocket pod version is the poorest option.

I have almost finished VII and XIII for my enlightened list. Nice models to paint with sharp detail and nice features.

I received my first order from Outlaw (apart from the KS package) and it contained lots of goodies. Postage was acceptable price wise and it took about 10 days, so a bit longer than I would have expected. It also contained my missing bases and cards 🙂 So I assembled 2 interceptors and my last iron horse. Nice resin models and very easy to assemble with only a few visible flashings to remove. They only just fit on the bases and all three were identical so I tried to model up a different one with an outlaw head and skull on the front. Interceptors are dual faction and can be used for lawmen or Outlaws and come with side mounted Hyper-Velocity cannons , power 8, Range 18″, ROF 2, 3″ blast and armour piercing. Very cool.  I must admit I would prefer the normal bike shaped bases but I guess there is a game reason for the large round ones.

Also got a few Mercs and another sidekick for the enlightened, Kyle the Black. Great looking models with lots of detail and nicely proportioned. Kyle is quite big compared to a normal hired hand but he is of solid build. He has physical ability of 3+ , 4 strikes and a wide array of zany weapons . Marcus Cunningham has a PA of 4+, 16 wounds  and it a real brute. The Stone hammer is a power 10 , Bell Ringer with a 2.5″ halo. The Wraith has a UR-30 Blaster with Power 7, Range 18,  ROF 2 and accurate plus a Marksmanship of 4+ makes this a deadly combination.

So very, very nice models. It hard to believe that these come from such a new company. See Outlaws WS for more.

Heres is XIII and VII based coated and on correct bases

I have painted (almost) 750 points of Outlaws and Enlightened so I can have a game of WWX. I thought I would run through the rules using a small 4 x 3 foot board , which I think is ok for a 750 point game. It was worthwhile as it made me read the rules and ask a few question on the WWX forum. I still need to read rules again to get a better understanding before playing. Its different to Malifaux and other minis games I play ( Dark Age and Eden) re LOS and there is no pre measuring. I am still waiting on the rest of my bases and cards from my KS project and who knows when they will be sent.

Here is the test game, I need to get a lot more terrain to give some cover to models crossing the middle area.

The iron horse have a construct ion their sights and looks like a “ride by attack” could possible be a good option. Although some power 8 mini cannons firing 2 shots each, thats 2 * 2 = 4 shots! might be a better option.

XII lines up the lone hired hand with his flamer and then maybe a melee strike with his drill or buzz saw.

The black Jack thinks he might have a go at Dr C but also XIII could be a better target. The Nose Guns are ROF 4 so thats 8 shots at power 7.

Frank James has his sights set on popping a few more construct and especially the power keg before they reach any cover

Jesse James contemplates attacking either XII or maybe taking on the Brothers.

I have managed to get a couple of 600 lists ready to use , sort of. There is a lot of detail on these models and thats going to take a while to finish the painting on these models. Here are the lists but I still need a few more models to get to $600

And the Outlaw list

As you can see two very different types of lists. I wonder what the ‘magic’ number is for playable balanced lists as 600 seems a bit low. I know in Malafaux they have stated that it is 50SS.

And some work in progress to give me some CC options for the Outlaws and some Mercs for the Enlightened.

I am full steam into painting my two 750 points lists. The painting is progressing but I tend to use lots of layers so it takes a while.

Here are two of my favourite models , the Kaufmanns . Dieter and Schultz or D & S which is my preference are almost ready to be detailed and based. I need to do some final filling on capes at back but I thought  it was ok prior to painting… it wasn’t.

Overall , good fun to paint.

And I had a very small test of some enlightened (30$) vs a outlaw hired hand (25$) and it was an eye opener. The system is nice and I can see the options such as aim, take cover and prone being used. I think the rules are nice but need to have some proper games to get my head around them before commenting.

I have not done any painting on a large scale for a while and the key thing is to get the right combo of base coat, top coat and inks . Not sure if this has been achieved yet but the first few models look ok (enough to have a game with). So lots of work to be done to get a army finished upto my normal standard. I need some more MSP paints in the grey shades and maybe some more browns. I need to spend a bit of time looking and planning the next batch and the “bikes”.

I have managed to assemble most of my WWX KS models.

I am missing some bases (12 of them) so I can’t make up my last iron horse, mercs, civilians and 8 hired hands. I think i will just put them on some alternate plastic bases. Assembly was pretty straight forward and everything was precise and fitted exactly. Overall quality of models is very high and they will be a pleasure to paint. I am just using sand bases until I get some resin bases from some where. My only gripe is why (apart from the obvious marketing reasons) bring out different WWX style bases! I normally only use resin bases and I hate using plastic bases. The green stuff under the characters feet is to raise the model up slightly so they are not buried in the sand. I didn’t worry about the hired hands and the light support models are based using pins so they are up a few mm as well. Very little flash and I don’t think much preparation is required. I am almost thing of using my army painter dip but not sure as it might clog the fine detail is too think. I just have to work out some sort of colour scheme but I can’t see it being too radical (unlike my yellow 40K Orks)

Here are some shot with a few very simple conversion on Carpathian ( I hate the pose of someone standing with there knee up, it had to go) , Apache kid (he was  squatting on a rock !) and the iron horses without the cows skull and pistol added.
