Eden – Askaris painted

I have ‘painted’ the Askaris I got from the Indiegogo and the Starter set. There are very nice models and I am waiting for my new paints to arrive before I can say I have finished painting these models. I used some old wonder wash but forgot it leaves a gloss finish and I need to spray with a matt varnish. I need to get some better washes for the skin and green and most likely the will be Citadel shades. Still hopefully you can get an idea of the Askaris. From left to right we have a Warrior(35 points) , Another Warrior(35 points although there is not a card for this model) ,Aicha(35),Defender(30) and another Defender(30 points another model without a card). Remember that the Askaris can be modified by the improvements cards so have a Warrior and Defender represented by two different models allows for this.

Eden – Bamaka pygmies

I have almost finished painting my last 2 Bamaka pygmies , namely Mbonga quiet-heart and Sekonga Yellow-eye.  I just noticed some more detail that needs to be picked out – bugger.

Here they all are ready for battle! I like them and they make for a very themed Eden list. It would be good to run Sabaka heavy foot with them as well for a bit of fun!

Ngozi  Short-winded (25 points), Mbonga(20), Dacke(10), Sekonga(30) and Bak (15) which comes to 100 points.  A deceptively effect crew I think.

Well I thought I’d better use my new brushes. They are very nice , holding the point well and letting the paint flow nicely. Great stuff. I almost feel like stock piling some for the future.

Here is the free resin model I got with my IndieGoGo pledge. Its a very nice model and I must admit I prefer resin to metal, so much easier to make and the detail seems crisper. I decided to go with a green scheme as I originally thought purple but I have seen too much purple with my Slaanesh Army. The model is mounted on an Eden 40mm base. I have run out of almost all of my Citadel Washes and I see they have renamed them shades and changed the name of the colours. Still they are very good (or were as I have not tried the new ones) and I will need to get some more. It needs a wash on certain areas ie the green and then some highlights to finish.

Here is a partially completed Flesh Master for my Hord list. Another nice model with plenty of detail and subtle feature you don’t notice until you start painting. The cape is a patchwork construction and has lots of bits to paint. Also the back of the coffin has a skeleton and some skulls.

Eden – Bamaka models I need

I was browsing the Eden online store and noticed that one of the Bamaka models was a bit more expensive than the others and wandered why? The details were “5 parts pewter miniature, 60mm top of the head.”  Now 60 mm to the top of the head is quite tall! I have Sabaka Heavy foot and he is 42 mm to the top of his head and is an impressive model so what would Tarar Long Stide look like. The Eden models are normally 32 mm for a normal human but the mutants are quite a bit larger as can be seen in this shot. Here is from left to right Sabaka at 42mm , Gawla at 40mm (his base is higher than Sabaka’s) , Dhambizao at 34 , Georg from the Convoy clan  at 35mm and  Dacke at 26mm. Wow Tarar is almost another 2 cm higher…

Here is Tarar’s stat card (See Taban for downloads)

Combined with the special rules War Howl, Reap, Wrath of N’Gar and Insensitive plus a CBT value of 6, he is a must buy. I think I will put an order as soon as the Indiegogo rush has been dealt with!!!

Eden – Flesh Master assembled

I got a Flesh Master to bulk out my Horde Faction. Its a very nice model with the coffin on his back with a skeleton strung up. The shovel arm is a nice touch. He is mounted on a 30mm Taban base.

The stat card but please see Tabans official download section for more information. Note he is a Dominant (you have to recruit at least one) and your troop leader must be a Dominant. His special rules are Mind Control (gets 2 Frenzy tokens each turn that can power abilities on nearby allied fighters), Keeper of Souls and Nightmarish Vision.

Eden – Askaris assembled

Easy to assemble as always for Taban models. They are very well modelled and easy to assemble due to the precise moulding. The poses are dynamic and the extra bitz have been used already. I have added a range weapon instead of the claw arm on the Defender.

Here is the card and added development cards ( I think I have it sorted) for the Askari defender. I have 1 left in the (spanner category ) Mecha that I can use for something. Very cool idea 🙂

Please see Taban web site for official download etc.

Eden – Askari

The new Eden faction Askari has lots of possibilities with the new special rule called “improvement cards”. Each Askari has a improvement line along the bottom showing the maximum improvement points (could be a combination of cards) in four different categories (traits) namely Physical, Mental,AVA and Mecha. The example shown is for the Warrior and I have only shown one of each card. See the forum for the complete rules.

Note the high cost of the Askari 35. So the starter set with three models comes to 100 points! The Askari defender is 30 and the warrior and Janissary come in at 35 points.

I thought I would show the difference between a Joker model and the new Askari. They are on 40mm bases and quite big. The one to the left is the resin Indegogo bonus model.

I got a parcel today , yeah , my Indiegogo stuff arrived and also my limited edition Askaris box set. Wow , can I say that the book and models have exceeded my expectation and are excellent. I have only had a quick scan through but the artwork is crisp and and I am looking forward to reading tonight. The box set came with an extra model plus the bonus from the Indiegogo and I will have a 5 strong Askaris crew.

The stuff

The models. As usual are very well made and will be a pleasure to make and paint. I was surprised to see them on 40mm bases but they are quite big. The detail is defined and the extra bitz will be interesting as I’m not sure what they are for at the moment !

All the cards etc

Extra bitz

Cool art work

Indiegogo – I’m a backer

Probably not the right terminology but I went with the following level

I would have liked to back at a higher level but I have heaps of Eden stuff . Here are some of my painted Jokers

One of my ISC models

and my Eden board

Grey Diamyo

Here is my slightly converted Grey Daimyo. I have just started to base coat although I have not completely planned the color scheme. I did a simple hand swap and put the spear in an upright position. He come with Plasteel armor: Full + 2.

Also here is a standard Blue Kami, he is a lot smaller cf Grey Daimyo but has a very respectable Heavy Plasteel Armor: Full +3

The ISC tend to have very high PSI as the following card shows. The head is PSI, Arm is CBT or fighting skill, torso is VIG Vigor and Legs are SPD speed. The grey dots represent how many wounds the limb can take, so Grey Daimyo can take 3 wounds to his Arm and then he is incapacitated and removed from the game. The stigma symbol on the bottom right is an alternative way to construct an army . You can either choose to use all ISC models or choose from models with the Protection symbol. Other symbols are Destruction, Order, Change and Chaos. A cool idea to mix up the game. On the other side of the card are the models abilities etc. Cards can be downloaded (and rules) from Tabans web site under the eden option and then choose downloads.
