Eden – Games notes from Hord vs ISC

I had a good game of Tabans Eden today. I had the Hord and my opponent had the ISC. The crews composed of the following

Hord – Brood Master, Bloody degenerate and starving degenerate plus the Beast Master with a Mireling

vs

ISC –  Grey Shogun, Black Shinobi and the Blue Ashigaru.

Interesting match up. Mission were for the Hord – The scavengers and the ISC had Priority target (with the starving degenerate as target).

Well to summarise, I got thrashed. I didn’t even kill an ISC let alone start eating the dead body.  I needed to read cards before hand and the Hord have potential to put together some good combos and if you use the ferocity token correctly to do well in combat. I think a better combination would be to be either all degenerates or beasts .For example , which come to 100 Points.

Also the mission I choose was always going to be tough against a plasteel armoured ISC troops. I need to get my Askaris painted up or my Resistance finished for the next game.

Overall a fun game and rules are easy to understand and use.

My 2013 plan

Is, well I don’t have one and never really planned my hobbie!

I am looking forward to OGRE and perhaps Kingdom of Death if I decided to back it.

I am expecting some Malifaux models so I can make and paint my new rail crew

I want to order one of these for my Skarrd list, fantastic looking model and is on a 80 mm base.

I will get the Genesis Cycle at least for “Netrunner” to see if it gets better!

I will paint my Eden models completely.

I hope to get some 40K 6th edition games in with my almost finished Slaanesh army.

I hope Confrontation arises from the dead but I don’t think it will happen.

But all of this is likely to change depending on the phases of the moon or some other extraterrestrial phenomenon.

Eden – Flesh Master assembled

I got a Flesh Master to bulk out my Horde Faction. Its a very nice model with the coffin on his back with a skeleton strung up. The shovel arm is a nice touch. He is mounted on a 30mm Taban base.

The stat card but please see Tabans official download section for more information. Note he is a Dominant (you have to recruit at least one) and your troop leader must be a Dominant. His special rules are Mind Control (gets 2 Frenzy tokens each turn that can power abilities on nearby allied fighters), Keeper of Souls and Nightmarish Vision.

Eden – Askaris assembled

Easy to assemble as always for Taban models. They are very well modelled and easy to assemble due to the precise moulding. The poses are dynamic and the extra bitz have been used already. I have added a range weapon instead of the claw arm on the Defender.

Here is the card and added development cards ( I think I have it sorted) for the Askari defender. I have 1 left in the (spanner category ) Mecha that I can use for something. Very cool idea 🙂

Please see Taban web site for official download etc.

Eden – Askari

The new Eden faction Askari has lots of possibilities with the new special rule called “improvement cards”. Each Askari has a improvement line along the bottom showing the maximum improvement points (could be a combination of cards) in four different categories (traits) namely Physical, Mental,AVA and Mecha. The example shown is for the Warrior and I have only shown one of each card. See the forum for the complete rules.

Note the high cost of the Askari 35. So the starter set with three models comes to 100 points! The Askari defender is 30 and the warrior and Janissary come in at 35 points.

I thought I would show the difference between a Joker model and the new Askari. They are on 40mm bases and quite big. The one to the left is the resin Indegogo bonus model.

I got a parcel today , yeah , my Indiegogo stuff arrived and also my limited edition Askaris box set. Wow , can I say that the book and models have exceeded my expectation and are excellent. I have only had a quick scan through but the artwork is crisp and and I am looking forward to reading tonight. The box set came with an extra model plus the bonus from the Indiegogo and I will have a 5 strong Askaris crew.

The stuff

The models. As usual are very well made and will be a pleasure to make and paint. I was surprised to see them on 40mm bases but they are quite big. The detail is defined and the extra bitz will be interesting as I’m not sure what they are for at the moment !

All the cards etc

Extra bitz

Cool art work

I just gave these a quick base and ink. Nice looking models (for what they are – board game pieces) but I am waiting for the alternative poses to arrive next year before finishing as I don’t know which ones I will want to use.

“Coming right at ya”

Kingdom Death KS

I have been watching this KS for a while and it is getting better and better. I was undecided but have almost pledged and the thing that changed my mind was the expansion for “Gorm”. Its just such an unusual model and it think it great. I’m not sure on the exact size but I think the human sized models are 32-35 mm?

I would be purchasing mainly for the models and then the game (which looks fun) . The models are very nice and very unique. I cant remember anything like it and I expecially like the watcher and the man hunter. The only issue is having to wait until november next year 😉 I also see the CMON are getting involved and this can only be a good thing and aid with the distribution of the game I guess. I’m almost a pledger but waiting for the next major expansion to be achieved, but I will probably pledge at “Herald of Death” level.

Dreadball – Veer-myn win game #2

Posted: 21 December 2012 in DreadBall

The mighty Veer-myn team called the BB Stealers won game number 2. The score was 3 points to the home side.
The winning move was a 4 point strike by the BB Stealers rat of the match – Cruiser.

Well that was a fun game, still having to read rules but getting better and trying different moves such as steals and I was almost tempted to stomp on the 29er guard but decided not to until I had read the rules. Didn’t want to slow the game down.

And the trophy for winning the second game goes to , well ME 😉
