Talina had her solo singing performance at Carnegie Hall last night during \"The Genius of Autism\" show...it was EPIC. I can't even put into words what it was like to see and hear her on this famous stage, singing with a band made up of super talented professional musicians. She sang Adam Lambert's \"Aftermath\", (The lyrics have special meaning for her) and I have to say-
MY GIRL ROCKED THE HOUSE! Seriously, the entire audience was clapping along; they did this CRAZY FUNKY arrangement of the song, and Talina NAILED every high note and then some. The acoustics in Carnegie Hall were PERFECT, and I have never seen her so confident.

The entire show was so amazing- my daughter was one of 13 young adults, all with autism, who were honored for their extraordinary accomplishments in poetry, visual arts, music and athletics. The entire night was full of HOPE and INSPIRATION.

Carnegie Hall has a VERY STRICT no recording policy- no photos, video, or audio. They would not even let us film the stage rehearsals. I can't tell you how upset I am that I don't have a vid of this- I want to hear it like 1000 more times, and I can't. :( Plus, I wanted to share it with you. I only have some rehearsal vid from 5 days ago-

My beautiful 11 year old daughter was diagnosed with autism when she was only 2 years old. As a toddler, her disability was much more severe. Over the years, we have been fortunate to have the help of many wonderful doctors, teachers, and therapists...and as of today, our daughter has been able to overcome many of the challenges of autism.

We still face obstacles every day; Autism is a life-long disability, but our daughter has come such a long way from the time she was originally diagnosed.

It is our hope that we can offer inspiration to other families living with autism.

If you or someone you know has a child with autism, please give them a BIG HUG!
If you know someone who works with or teaches people on the autistic spectrum, give them a BIG HUG, too!

I am so proud...my daughter, who has mild autism and epilepsy,  just graduated from elementary school.  Happy occasions like this are always cause to celebrate, bit this is extra special because it was such a huge accomplishment for her to be able to attend regular ed. classes with her typical peers.  We certainly had our challenges over the years, but with lots of hard work, many special education services,  the help of a 1:1 aide and many wonderful and supportive teachers, she was able to excel academically and graduate with her class.  The ceremony was beautiful, but I forgot my tissues!!  LOL!!

She has overcome so many obstacles, and I couldn't be more proud!   I love her to pieces!<\/p>

Next, we're on to middle school!  Wish us luck!...
