
Yashu Kauffman

Yashu Kauffman is the Director of Assessment and Evaluation at MIT (AIM Academy). She received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Connecticut with an emphasis on Situated Cognition, Education Assessment, and Instructional Design. She has collaborated with MIT faculty in developing assessments to measure learning effectiveness and designing instructional materials to facilitate active learning at MIT Skoltech Initiative and the MIT Department of Mechanical Engineering. She is also a certified evaluator for the National Center for Teacher Effectiveness at the Harvard University and has been teaching for the Kaufman Teaching Certificate Program at MIT.
Over the past 10 years, Dr. Kauffman has led multiple national funded projects and conducted large-scale assessments across multiple institutions with all levels of academic and industrial partners. Her expertise lies in the filed of designing and developing quantitative, qualitative, and mix-methods instruments and assessments to measure educational needs and evaluate learning effectiveness. Additionally, she serves on the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Educational Psychology and has published several articles on issues of assessment and digital learning in top tier journals. Her current digital assessment projects have also been highlighted in the American Psychological Association (APA) publication- Monitor on Psychology.
