Frivolity

*throws confetti*

Posting to commemorate the 10th anniversary of this El Jay! I created it exactly 10 years ago today, which was exactly one month after I joined FictionAlley, which was approximately 8 months after I found Draco Trilogy and began lurking around fandom.

Loads of things have changed in the last 10 years. Thanks for being with me on the ride!

On moving to Dreamwidth

Popping in from my current state of insanity to say that I am also [personal profile] misscake at Dreamwidth. I've not been very good about cross-posting, but that is on my list of resolutions for 2012!

Also, I've not really been keeping up with all of the issues on the update but I get the gist of them. I just hope all of my favorite comms make the move too!

ETA: COMPLETELY UNRELATED! Oh, for FUCK'S SAKE! After years of me discouraging my mother from getting a Facebook account, my sister has gone and helped her set one up! JFC! I do not want to to be friends with my mother on Facebook!

USERNAME CHANGE!

"On 2009-04-11 at 15:52:30 your username was changed from danijo1 to misscake"

So, after a little over five years with the user name danijo1, I've finally bit the bullet and made a name change. I must have sat with my finger over the mousepad for 20 minutes before clicking 'Rename'.

*stretches out in the new space and looks around*

Yep, looks good to me!!

(I'll still be using my danijo1 email addy.)

First, let me just say how damn annoying it is to come up with a really great name, only to find out that it was created in 2002 and hasn't been updated since then.

Second, here's the list of possible usernames that are available and acceptable.

What should I change my username to?

broaden - I'm broadening my horizons
0(0.0%)
cajoles - because I use gentle persuasion
1(5.6%)
cakeandkisses - both are good
3(16.7%)
caresaway - forget your troubles, come on get happy
2(11.1%)
hardlycliche -
4(22.2%)
sagaofme - it's my story
0(0.0%)
Don't change your username!
2(11.1%)
Keep looking.

Any of them are acceptable.

Something else I'll suggest in the comments.

Many, many things

Oh, look, I haven't updated for several days and there are multiple, un-related things to mention!

1. Sirens first newsletter!

2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO cirith/theodoresayshi!

3. Make it so, number one! AKA Why do all of the good presents get unveiled AFTER Christmas?

4. I'm so glad I just bought a permanent account. Just how permanent is it?

5. I am paranoid that snow is somehow going to interfere with my trip to see foldingstar. I'm obsessively checking Weather.com for here and there. I see mention on snow here the day I leave. But that's 9 days away, so let's hope things change by then.

Quick... before LJ disappears forever the day, what is everyone planning to do with their free time?

I'm going to make a major dent in my online Christmas shopping!

I'll see you all on the flip side.

So, here's my two knuts on the sale of LiveJournal:

I think it's a plot! Clearly, they timed this announcement when we were all in the depths of reading holiday fest fics and they thought we wouldn't notice. Because, seriously, trying to keep up with all of these fests is going to be a full time job this month!

I'm slightly amused by the thought that SixApart got so fucked off with us that they decided to not only get rid of us, but to give us the proverbial finger as a parting gift.

The only real question for me is, do I renew my paid journal or not? On the one hand, at least it's not 6A anymore. On the other hand, what do we know about SUP?

In other news, had a lovely lunch with the hp_dcmetro ladies yesterday. It was good to get to see everyone even if it was a small group.

I am still flailing over what to get my son to replace the Doctor Who gifts. He'll still get them, but they'll be from us instead of Santa.

Also, I've finally lost that 14 pounds (= 1 stone) that I wanted to before foldingstar arrived. Which means that yesterday I was able to fit into a pair of jeans two sizes smaller! WHEEE!

Tomorrow is my last day of work before I'm off for a week while foldingstar is here!

So, of course, tonight, instead of cleaning the house, I've been catching up on Grey's Anatomy as I'd missed the previous two weeks episodes. I'm thinking that I'm kind of loving the new doctor, Erica Hahn. And the storylines seemed to have gotten good again!

I ordered Season 3 of Doctor Who yesterday, so that should arrive soon but I probably won't be able to watch it until the boys leave.

And, finally, I found out tonight that I'm either going to have 5 people for Thanksgiving or 15. No in between. Meep!

....

Oooh! Is this a new thing? When I type in a tag, it automatically populates from my current list. Nifty!
