Okay, I have finally slept but I'm still on such a high. I spent a total of 4 hours on the phone with foldingstar yesterday discussing our reaction and theories to the book. Apologies to fate_envies_us and libel. I thought I was coming back to the computer but we got a bit carried away on the phone.

I'm hugely enjoying seeing everyone's reactions here on LJ and at Fiction Alley. The reactions and theories and interpretations are wonderful. I keep getting a big silly grin on my face.

Everyone must go and read inthesewalls's post here for a extensive listing of etymologies of the new words and characters names from the book.

Okay, off to mundane muggle things like washing and grocery shopping. I wonder how "Mollywobbles" gets it all done?

My thoughts on HBP

Collapse )

Also, we attended a party at the bookshop last night. My son loved it. They had skits and trivia contests, read-alouds from the other books, wand-making, face-painting, bookmark-making... All of the workers were dressed up and they really got the crowd involved and excited. We even did a 10-second countdown. A photographer from the local paper followed my son and another boy he'd befriended around all night snapping photos. If any get published, I'll scan them in and post them here.

I'm still on a high. I'm expecting to crash soon. But OMG!!!! Loved the book and can't wait to here what all of you think about it.

My house guests are gone and everything is back to normal. I finished my re-read of OotP and now I'm getting that itchy "night before Christmas" feeling and I really want the damn book now. Why can't I be in a book shop when they accidentally sell HBP?? *sighs*

But I'm ready for whatever happens. I'm not hanging my hat on any ship or character or possible plot. I just want to read the story the way Jo wants to tell it. It's fun to speculate and theorise and play with the characters but in the end, they are hers and its her story to tell.

In other news, I've volunteered for another project at FA which is proving challenging but has got me thinking that I'd really like to take an HTML or web-design class at the local college this fall.

AND an update on the wristbands! We've sold 900 wristbands to date. The scholarship is funded for the first three years!! Go us! But we're not stopping there. We're going to continue to sell them through November in hopes of endowing the scholarship. Fandom is so cool.
