I feel asleep on the couch at 8:30pm last night. My son was up at 4:30 this morning. YAY JET LAG!
Am back to work today and have made it through all of the emails and things that I missed while I was out. I have downloaded all of the photos (all 976 of them!!!) but haven't had a chance to really sort through them and put them in any meaningful order.
However, in light of the final HP premiere today, I thought I'd share a couple with you.
Okay, so I will admit that I am not nearly as critical a reader as many of you and, though I loved speculation, I never put much energy into forming theories and such. Nevertheless, I'm really enjoying all of your DH posts even though many reactions are so varied.
I've digested a lot of thoughts, feelings, reactions, etc. over the last few days and have come to these conclusions: 1) There are a lot of really brilliant people in fandom and I'm learning just as much from your thought processes as I am from your thoughts, and 2) even if in the end we don't feel the same about the books, I'm still thrilled to have found fandom and all of you.
I have some other thoughts about the books which are just for fun. I've decided that ( Collapse ).
I left the house at 5:00pm last night and got in line at the bookstore where I'd reserved my book to pick up wristbands for myself and my sister. They started distributing at 6pm and by 6:15 I was in the car and heading over to Silver Spring to meet a huge contingent of local fans. It was great to finally meet some people I'd only known through LJ and some I'd not yet met at all. *waves to people*
I had dinner with them and left around 8:15 and met my sister and son back at the bookstore shortly before 9pm. They had several activities going on, but nothing really very exciting so that was kind of a let down. (They did have tarot card reading that I totally have to pick evil_erato's brain about.)
My son did really well, even though he got a little bored toward the end. But basically, the books went on sale at 12:01am and I was in my car by 12:06am. I made it home by 12:25am, got the kid into bed, got a drink and finally started reading at 12:45am. By 2:45am, I had to go to bed but I was back up at 5:30am when my husband left for work and finally finished shortly after 2pm.
I had squeeful moments on behalf of many of you when favorite characters or theories made appearances. But I also thought of those of you that I knew would be really disappointed. I've already seen posts here and at FA about people who are basically leaving fandom and I'm sorry to hear that, really, but I can also understand how hard it is to put emotional investment into something and feel let-down.
I know, for me, that much of my stress for the last few weeks has been about what would happen in this book. But I'm feeling very content, if a bit tired, now and I'm thoroughly looking forward to reading everyone's reactions and seeing where fandom goes from here.

2. If fandom moves over the weekend, can someone tell me? I'm also danijo1 at Greatest Journal.
3. I hope that the book is everything all of you hope it to be. I recognize that can't possibly be the case for everyone as some of those things are in direct conflict with each other but I just hope that everyone enjoys themselves tonight and tomorrow. Love to all of you!
