C4 Open 2017

Yet again, C4 Open modelling exhibition has come and gone. As is my tradition, I took a bunch of photos... and here they are!

Some great builds this year, but the trend of fewer and fewer dioramas with each passing year is unfortunately still 'strong'. OTOH, number of German 'big cats' was definitely lower, instead quite a few Soviet/Russian AFV:s seem to be in vouge! And that's a good thing, a bit tiresome to see 20 Tigers and 15 Panther's year after year.

Apparently Google, in its eternal wisdom, decided that embedding albums created in their own photo storage service on their own blog service is too much hassle. So no more embedded flash movies, my lovlies. Instead, if you want to see the pictures, click on image below – it will lead you to my Google album containg all the goodies. Hope you like the pictures!

C4 Open 2016

And we're at this time of the year yet again - C4 Open model exhibition took place two weeks ago. A bit of mixed feelings this time around - still a lot of great models, but number of more advanced dioramas decreased yet again. Don't know what to think of it.

In any case, if you click on image below, you'll navigate to a Google album with shedload of pictures of models displayed in this year's exhibition. Direct album embedding is apparently no longer available in Blogger.

C4 Open 2015–Part I

The thing called ‘real life’ managed yet again to put all things wargame-related onto a backburner. Thus no posts over last couple of months. However, time nevertheless keeps moving forward and we’ve now arrived to the last weekend in October, which means… yes, you’re right – that today it was yet again time for the annual model kit exhibition in my area.
Model kits and wargaming are two different hobbies, but there is a lot of overlapping between those two. For me personally, both hobbies are really just an extension of my interest in military history. And that’s why, yet again, I’m now posting a bunch of pictures from the exhibition. First up, all the airplanes.
Hope you’ll enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed the exhibition. Ler

C4 Open 2014 - Part IV

OK, this is the last batch of pictures from this year’s local modelling exhibition. Next post will be wargames-related, I promise. Ler

C4 Open 2014–Part I

It’s the last weekend of October, which only means one thing – it’s time for yet another visit to C4 Open exhibition, the biggest (by default, since it’s the only one) modelling exhibition in my area.

This year’s event was a bit disappointing and I really hope that it’s not an indication of development in the hobby in general. Far fewer displays almost no large scale dioramas. On the other hand, there were unusually many miniatures (including some 28mm Napoleonic minis from Perry Brothers!), so that was good news.

Anyway… managed to take a bunch of pictures and fall in love all over again with my tiny Lumix LX7; by gods, what a brilliant little camera it is! Here’s the first instalment, mostly miniatures and a bunch of ‘big cats’ in 1/35 scale.

C4 Open 2013

It's the end of October and this means one thing - it's time for yet another C4 Open exhibition. For those of you who don't know what C4 Open is (which would be pretty much everybody outside of south-western Sweden and Copenhagen), it's an annual modelling exhibition that takes place at Technical Museum in Malmö. It's also a great opportunity to spend a lot of money on models and modelling supplies.

I could also put it in simple terms and simply say that C4 Open is the closest thing one comes to Nirvana if you're into this hobby and live in the area.

It has become something of a custom of mine to take a bunch of pictures from every installment of C4 Open. This year was no different and I have now selected a selection of best pics from this year's exhibition. Hope you'll enjoy them.

C4 OPEN 2012–Part II

At the moment I’m sick like a dog and can’t really sleep, so I may just as well do something useful and post some more of the pictures from this year’s C4 Open. This time around, a bunch of pictures of airplane models that participated in competitions. My personal taste gravitates usually toward “small is beautiful”, but I have to admit that this year it was the huge and exquisitely finished P-38 Lightning in 1:32 scale that completely blew me away.

C4 Open 2012- Part 1

For those unfamiliar with the event, C4 Open is the largest plastic model exhibition in Southern Sweden. Since modelling hobby and wargaming are so closely related with each other (I’m yet to meet a wargamer who hasn’t built models at one time or other), I’m always posting the pictures that I’m taking at those events. This time around, mostly because I don’t have time to process all pictures at once, I’ll be splitting posts with photographs over a couple of posts. Hope you’ll enjoy them.

First off, the the pictures of models exhibited outside of the competitions.
