Çalışmada ulus-devlet, Bourdieucü anlamda bir alan, ulusal kimlik ise bu alanın özgül sembolik sermayesi olarak düşünülmüştür. Ulusal kimlik – din ilişkisi, bir alt sermaye olarak din unsurunun ulus-devlet alanı, dolayısıyla da ulusal kimlik içerisindeki hareketi ile belirlenmekte ve dönüşmektedir. Bu süreç, Türkiye’de ulusal kimliğin kuruluş sürecinden itibaren ele alınmış, özellikle AK Parti iktidarı döneminde aldığı şekle odaklanılmıştır. Bu bağlamda, AK Parti’nin ulusal kimlik vizyonunu yansıtan; tarih anlatısı, vatandaşlık etiği anlayışı ve uluslarası ilişkiler yaklaşımını belirleyen örnekler, ulusal kimlik-din ilişkisi ekseninde analiz edilmişlerdir. Tüm bu örnekler partinin din öğesini, büyük ölçüde modernist ulus-devlet stratejilerine uygun bir biçimde, ulusal kimlik tahayyülünün içerisinde yeniden konumlandırarak, hem ulusal kimliğin İslamileşerek yeniden pekişmesini sağladığı, hem de bu şekilde İslam algısının sekülerleşmesine hizmet ettiğini göstermektedir. / This thesis, investigates the national identity-religion relationship in Turkey, parting from the AK Party governance experience between November 2002 – November 2013. In the thesis, nation-state is considered as a “field” (in the sense Bourdieu uses the term), while national identity is defined as its specific symbolic capital. The national identity-religion relationship is being determined and transformed by the movement of the component of religion as a sub-capital in the field. Throughout the thesis, this process is examined proceeding from the foundation of the Turkish national identity and focusing on its pattern during the AK Party rule. In this context, examples reflecting the party’s history narration, citizenship ethics approach and international relationships perspective, which indicate its vision of national identity, have been analyzed. All these examples show that the party, resituating the component of religion in field, triggers the strengthening and Islamization of national identity and at the same time secularizes the religious perception in a way pretty much compatible with the modernist nation-state strategies.
