Yuuuletide! I'm really happy with my assignment here. It's a fandom I love and a great opportunity for worldbuilding in a new little corner of the 'verse. So yay for that one. :)

OK, here we go - another year, another Yuletide!

First - the main point of all this is to have fun, and get some fic out there in smaller fandoms, so whatever you do, that's great and you should have a ball. Don't take any of my ideas or prompts too seriously - do what appeals to you. I'm pretty unsquickable and open to all sorts of stuff. I'll be delighted with whatever you come up with, because you wrote it for me and to play in fandom.

Whew - I'm actually there with the main raft of challenges!

My SGA Santa fic's posted - Just as Complicated as it Sounds - an OT4 romp for goddess47 . It ended up at almost 25,000 in the end. It's about the team forming a sedoretu à la Ursula le Guin's poly-marriage trope, and was a ton of fun to write.

I got a charming pre-slash John/Rodney fic from ionamcbee called Truth or Dare, in which J&R and friends play an adult-rated game.

My due South Secret Santa story's posted and they're all due for reveals very soon (exciting!), and I also posted my main Yuletide fic plus a Yuletide treat for one of the pinch-hitters, in the same fandom. Poetry FTW!  :D

I'll go have dinner on the 25th with my aunt, uncle and cousins - luckily the keto diet adapts excellently to Christmas dinner - roast fowl and then strawberries with lashings of whipped cream, tra la la!  (status report: 26 lbs lost in 3 months).

Hi all - I am head down and scribbling furiously, whew! Have finished my due South santa fic and just done the SGA one as well (both way longer than I was intending, OMG) and am now lurching onward with my Yuletide one.
Yuletide's always a bit tricky for betas - small fandoms and all that - so I thought I'd ask if there's anyone reading this who could beta my 'Only Lovers Left Alive' fic (hopefully under 5000 words) - set in Elizabethan England and will involve sonnets (although that may be a disincentive for some, rather than an inducement!)
Anyway - I'm afraid it'll be very close to the deadline, like on the 19th (deadline being 20th) but that's NZ-time so I guess very slightly earlier in non-antipodean places. 
If you can help, PM me your email if you don't think I'd have it - and thanks heaps in advance.

Possum is fully recovered, putting back on the weight he lost and is fluffy once more. *hugs him*

I finished and posted my due South Seekrit Santa story (as yet unrevealed) and am pretty happy with it. Not a trope I'd done before and barely touched on in the fandom, which made it interesting and fun to work out. I like taking ludicrous tropes and trying to make them play out in the "real" world of canon. Well, to a degree - let's not get carried away with the pretend realism here and take all the fun out of it.

I panicked about Yuletide yesterday, wrote a false start of 300 words, hated it, then wrote 800 words that I like. And as part of that, the direction it went in showed me what I want to do with the story overall, and what the theme will be. Sheesh - flying by the seat of my pants as usual, but sometimes that's what works for me. Whew. 

(In slightly less shiny news my Sga Santa fic is progressing OK but insists on being looong. Am at 10,000 and it will most likely get to almost 20,000, yikes. Personal (and beta) deadline is the 15th, so am trying to do it alongside the Yuletide fic, or on alternate days, omg.)

Hi everyone - a very belated update. As usual, I fail at regular posting, sigh.

'Tis the season to be a bloody idiot so as usual I have way too many challenges and fests on the go. And RL work is busy and could easily expand to fill all my available time. See, this is why I take on so much fandom stuff - I'm crap at setting limits so I let the competing worlds I occupy battle it out. It's like a detente! (*momentary doubt as wonders if fully understands what a detente is but can't be arsed googling it. Or putting in the accents.*)

My cat, Possum, is at the vet's overnight. He pretty much stopped eating in the last 3 days and I took him to the urgent vet today. Apparently he has an ulcer on his tongue, poor thing. Best news would be if it's just from an injury and already starting to heal. There are systemic causes but his bloods are OK, so fingers crossed. He's on a drip and having antibiotics. The vets have been great - called me twice with updates. Downside is they close 8am tomorrow so I have to collect him at 07.30 which for me is the asscrack of dawn, as I can never sleep before 2am. The house is so quiet without him suddenly pounding in through the cat door and demanding to be picked up and fussed. I miss him.

Yes, I've done it again and signed up for far too many challenges from now til January.  But it's the last SGA-Santa, and I always do the due South seekrit santa too. Then there's the SGA Art Santa exchange, of course...and right now I'm a little overdue with my Apocalypse Kree fic, but I have an extension. Oh, and Into-a-bar is due in a couple of weeks as well.

And then I signed on for Yuletide too, in a rush of blood to the head. Um.

But the good news is that I have IDEAS for almost all of them. :)

I'm especially excited about Yuletide as I got exactly the assignment I wanted. It's great as it's a fandom with almost no presence as yet (one drabble on AO3) and a canon I love and binge-read. So it feels like there's a lot riding on me to do a good job with the fic when my recipient's so keen for it and there's so little fanfic out there yet. Also I need to re-read the books before I start, to get the details right. No hardship there. I know what I want to write though, so I'm pretty thrilled about it.

How's your Yuletide looking, if you signed on for it?

Hello! Delighted you picked a fandom I love! I'm pretty easy to please - well, certainly in this as I'll love whatever you choose to do in any of these fandoms. I read widely and in lots of fandoms, and although I read more slash overall, I like gen and occasional het. I'm very hard to squick and I like all ratings, tropes and kinks, with the possible exception of extreme crack and extreme Harlequin-type fluffiness. If you want to go dark that's okay, and I do like non-con and mind-control kink, but I'd prefer a hopeful ending overall.
Anyway, the main thing is that you write something that you'll enjoy, and ignore the notes below if inspiration takes you in a different direction.

Thanks again, and have fun!

TGIF (for my timezone, anyway) and TG I finished my damn Yuletide fic - such a relief! I went from sweating blood over every word and hating it, to really liking it in the end. And big thanks and hugs to king_touchy  for last minute beta help.

I've been so preoccupied with getting this fic done that I haven't yet posted about the amazing - truly, amazingly gorgeous - art that Leyna made for my prompt, over at Yuletart. It's SGA, John and Rodney flying using Goa'uld tech, looking like Renaissance angels. The colours are stunning. It's here - Death Gliders by Leyna.

Such a fun time of year - well, now I have my Yulefic done and dusted, anyway. My main Yuletart artwork's posted, and my Yuletart stocking stuffer cookies of insanity, and I'm going to do another stocking stuffer featuring half-naked Derek and fully-clothed Stiles, heh. And there's an SGA artwork that's posted anon, but I think my style's petty obvious so no big secrets there :)
Next to be revealed is a due South artwork, an SGA Santa fic, and Cam/John Flyboys art after Christmas. (er, must get onto that last one)

And right now: bed, as I've run myself short of sleep and Mum's determined that I take her to the mall tomorrow - WHY???

Eeeek. Bears are breathing down my Yuletide neck. A quick check - is there anyone on my flist who knows "This Means War" (stupid movie, lovely stars, idiotic but occasionally funny script)? I'm writing it for Yuletide and trying to find someone to do a last minute beta-read. Won't be long - under 5000 words - probably well under. Pairings are FDR/Tuck slash and FDR/Lauren het. There's a bit of angst, and no Lauren-bashing. Trouble is, I'm so late completing it that I won't have it ready for reading until 18th Dec (USA-ish zones), and the Yuletide deadline's 20th Dec EST.
So I know this is a really long shot, but any help would be gratefully received, even if you don't know the canon (I can summarize the plot in about 2 sentences).
