Summary: Sixteen years ago they were in a rock band and their one album's a cult classic. Rodney wants to re-form the band, but will he succeed? And can he and John get past the mess they made of things the last time around?
Notes: An Earth-based non-science fiction AU, so many of the underlying details are different to canon, including some of the characters' relative ages. For what it's worth, it's set in 2004. Created for the very evocative artwork by  , as below, which I've interpreted in...a slightly unusual way. Huge, giant thanks to  for beta-reading and cheerleading - without busaikko's feedback John and Rodney would have had it far too easy. Also they wouldn't have made much sense.

Notes: This load of schmaltzy crack just came to me and I had to get it out of my system so as to concentrate on my McShep Match Team Play fic. Which this would have been perfect for except that my prompt just would not fit it, even when held upside down and squinted at sideways. So, okay, apologies to those of you who hate the pokies which I acknowledge are evil objects and the cause of much suffering. And yes, it’s very wrong of me to romanticise one, but once I got bitten by the story bug I just had to do it. Maybe it should have been a pinball machine – I guess at least they could have had arms then. No I am not going to turn this in to a crack series, I’m really, really not.
