Le groupe de recherche Marges et frontières, animé par des chercheurs de l'université Paris-Sorbonne et de l'UMR 8167, d'HiSoMA (UMR 5189), de l'université Paris-Ouest Nanterre, du CIHAM (UMR 5648) et de l'Institut français d'archéologie orientale du Caire (Ifao), rassemble des spécialistes des différentes périodes de l’histoire égyptienne. Il a pour objet l’analyse des conceptions, de la gestion administrative, politique et économique de la frontière et de la marge en Égypte antique et médiévale, et l'étude des populations qui y vivaient et y transitaient. Afin d’analyser plus finement l’évolution et le fonctionnement de ces espaces en Égypte, ainsi que la perception qu’en avaient le pouvoir et les populations égyptiennes, les apports de l’archéologie, des textes et de la géographie sont considérés sur le temps long, de l’Antiquité au Moyen Âge inclus. Ce carnet est destiné à rendre compte de nos activités, à constituer un outil de veille sur l'actualité de la recherche sur les frontières égyptiennes, à proposer des ressources, ainsi qu'à faire connaître cette thématique à un public de non-spécialistes.

The research group Margin and Borders, driven by researchers of Paris-Sorbonne University and CNRS UMR 8167, HiSoMA (UMR 5189), Paris-West Nanterre University, CIHAM (UMR 5648) and the French Institute of Oriental Archaeology in Cairo (Ifao), gathers specialists of different periods of Egyptian history. It aims at analyse the conceptions as well as the administrative, political and economic management of border and margins in antique and medieval Egypt, and finally to study the populations who lived there. In order to analyze more subtly the development and the organization of these areas, and their perception by the authorities and the population, the contributions of both archaeology, texts and geography are taken into account, on the long run, that is to say from Antiquity to Middle Ages. This scientific blog is intended for reporting back our activities, to be a tool of scientific watch on the issue of Egyptian borders, to propose open-data and to make those issues known to the non-specialists.
