
Tayfun Nesimoglu
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tayfun Nesimoglu:
received the B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Eastern Mediterranean University, Cyprus in 1996, the M.Sc. degree in Mobile, Personal and Satellite Communications from the University of Westminster, U.K. in 1997, and the PhD degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bristol (Centre for Communications Research), U.K. in 2002. His doctoral research concerned novel amplifier linearization techniques for broadband mobile communication systems and design of novel microwave circuits for software defined radio (SDR).
For about 6 years, he was employed as a full-time Post-Doctoral Research Fellow by University of Bristol on a number of European Union collaborative (IST-TRUST&SCOUT, FP6) projects and on two industrial projects sponsored by Toshiba Research Europe Ltd and Toshiba, Japan. His research interests include RF/microwave hardware, amplifier, mixer design and linearization, broadband transmitter/receiver front-end architectures and SDR enabling technologies. He has presented these research topics at international conferences, authored and coauthored numerous scientific papers and filed international patents. He is the reviewer of several scientific conferences and journals.
He is currently employed as a lecturer at Middle East Technical University, Northern Cyprus Campus (METU-NCC) and since December 2013 he is the Program Coordinator of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Program. He has established Radio Frequency and Telecommunications Laboratory (RFTL) at METU-NCC where he is conducting his research activities. He has obtained funding from TUBITAK, ASELSAN and METU-NCC and currently coordinating a number of research projects. He is a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Chamber of Electrical Engineers of Cyprus, and Committee member of Electromagnetic Field Working group of Chamber of Electrical Engineers. Between 2012-2014 he has served as a Steering Committee member of Information Technologies and Communications Agency of Turkish Republic and Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Since 2012, he is the Leader of the Broadcasting Technical Committee established by the Presidency of TRNC and enthusiastically working towards improving the quality of communications and broadcasting technology in the country.
