Q&A

Welcome to Codidact Meta!

Codidact Meta is the "town hall" (meta-discussion site) for the Codidact community network and the Codidact software. Whether you have bug reports or feature requests, support questions or rule discussions that touch the whole network – this is the site for you.

Do not linkify deleted user

Proposal: Do not linkify deleted user.

Details:

Currently, occurrences of deleted user are automatically rendered as profile links in post listings and post metadata.

However, when a user account has been deleted, there is no active profile to navigate to. Rendering deleted user as a clickable link:

  • Suggests that a profile still exists

  • Creates a navigational dead-end

  • Blurs the distinction between an actual user and a tombstoned account

In cases where an account has been deleted, deleted user should be rendered as plain text rather than linkified.
