Should an embedded image render in /edit, but not outside it?

When I accessed powerusers.codidact.com/posts/293590's /edit for its /history#1, I saw:

A Screenshot

However, outside it, I do not:

Does this reproduce for anyone else? If so, is this expected?

I don't know for certain how the post ended up in that state, but there are a few known possible causes: https://meta.codidact.com/posts/291577

Specifically, pasting an image does not update the HTML result until another change is made. Given that the post still uses the default alt text, it seems likely it was pasted in last before submission

Ohhh, that makes sense, actually, Moshi‭. I fixed a bug preventing previews from updating after successful image upload on 2025-05-09 - we were missing a change event trigger. Given that deployment happened even later than that and that the post is older (2025-03-21) than the fix itself, it's pretty much guaranteed to have been made with the bug still present.
