^^by kinkapoodles^^ "Third Grade Detective Danny Messer brings his Staten Island roots with him to the New York City Crime Lab. Growing up in a family under surveillance, Danny formulated his own set of hybrid ethics, blending the world of lawbreakers with the world of lawmakers. Mac personally selected Danny to join his team, an honour and responsibility that Danny attempts to live up to every day." - CBS.com
As a native New Yorker Danny Messer has come to epitomize the city itself. His initial aspirations lead him into baseball until an unfortunate injury closed those doors. Danny turned to his other talents, following his gifts in science and pride for his city to join the academy and excel. Graduating in the top of his class attracted the attention of job offers, even though his smart mouth and quick temper had already given him a name. Proud to be hand picked by Mac Taylor, Danny eagerly took up a position with NY:CSI and is now Mac's second most senior investigator. ^^lovebar by megan_moonlight^^ Danny and Don currently live in the East Village in Manhattan with their dog Jack. They recently celebrated their second anniversary on April 19th. Detective Don Flack Jr knows the streets of New York. Yonkers born and bred and then raised in Queens, descended from a long line of police officers, Detective Flack never questioned his future. Working closely with Mac Taylor and his unit, Detective Flack bridges the gap between the old-school NYPD and new generation of CSI. Carrying with him an intense hatred of the "bad guy", his approach to solving crimes, while sometimes borderline, is nonetheless always effective.
Don was injured on the job in a bombing on May 14, 2006 - his recovery took four months and he returned to full duty in late September 2006
Don worked construction right out of high school until he could join the police academy at 21 in 1994 where he graduated at the top of his class that same fall. He immediately went to work after that as a uniformed officer and worked alongside Gavin Moran for four years at the 53rd Precinct in the Bronx. He was promoted to homicide detective in 1998 and transferred to the 12th Precinct in Manhattan. Don was assigned to work with Mac's team in the fall of 1999 and he has been there ever since.
Don moved his sister Carrie in with him when her boyfriend split after she had their baby in June 1999 and she could barely support herself (Don had been supporting her) and he knew it would save on expenses for both of them. It gave Carrie the opportunity to go to culinary school like she'd been wanting to do. She did when Lily turned 18 months old and gradulated 11 months later with her Culinary Arts Diploma. She and Lily moved out 7 months later in 2002.
