I'm making Dorie Greenspan's "My Favorite Chocolate Cookies" (or some such claptrap name) with manually broken up bits of Ghirardelli bittersweet chocolate & pecans for New Year's due to BF's fervent request. I made the change in the recipe I wanted to last time; I think her balance between white & brown sugar is off.
I keep forgetting that this is an awesome base recipe for this type of cookie. I need to pull it out next time I make toffee cookies.
And when these are done, it's time for the Lace cookies. I wanted to make a German honey cookie. However, while I noticed that they needed to be made a few days before they were to be eaten, I missed the fact that they needed to be refrigerated for 6 hours (at least) before baking. So not for New Year's. Guess I'll just have to trot out the Honey Cake recipe for everyone to have a Sweet & Happy New Year.
And on a side Peeve: why the hell do recipes claim they make 4 dozen when they clearly make a minimum of 6 to 7 dozen? Sheesh. You think people will be LESS likely to use the recipe?
ETA: Damnit. The change in the brown & white sugar mix gave the cookies a burntish flavor. Have to redo those. Damn, damn, damn!
