	Orange Honey Pound Cake is in the oven. I hope it tastes as good as I think it'll be. I might have put too much baking soda in to compensate for the acidity of the honey. If that happened, I think it'll take some of the flavor out of the orange as well. 	Round Two
	Round Two orange pound cake is done, and seems to have come out perfectly. Round One honey cake is in the oven, and looks like it should be fine. Round One Fig Jam Oatmeal Granola Bars (for later today) will be in the oven within the next 45 minutes. Round One (and the only round!) sugar cookies will be made on Wednesday. 	Baking doesn't always come up roses
	My pound cake freezes really well, so I was planning on making it today, freezing it, and then bringing it to NY in Chicago next Thursday. Good news: The orange variation I made tastes awesome! Bad news: I tried something different with how I baked it, and everything but the top edges burnt. Good news: There's enough good cake left under the burnt that it's partially salvageable. Bad news: I'm not taking hacked apart pound cake to Chicago. I still have to rebake. 	Ettin's make good eatin's
	At least, that's what we're assuming. We'll figure it out for sure tomorrow, when we bite both heads off the Ettins while trying the sugar cookies. Alas, no out of town guests this year for my birthday. But another friend volunteered to come over and help me ice the 65 sugar cookies currently sitting in my kitchen. And she also volunteered to watch me as I made a (different than usual!) mess of icing the vanilla flavored yellow cake with cherry preserves between layers, and almond flavored icing. Mmmm... looking forward to tomorrow.
