Gamal M. ATTIYA graduated in 1993 from Faculty of Electronic Engineering, Menoufia University, Egypt. He is obtained M.Sc. degree in computer science and engineering from the Menoufia University, Egypt, in 1999. He received PhD degree in computer engineering from the University of Marne-La-Vallée, Paris-France, in 2004. He is currently Full Professor at the department of Computer Science and Engineering, Faculty of Electronic Engineering, Menoufia University, Egypt. His main research interests include distributed computing, Task Allocation and Scheduling, Cloud Computing, Big Data Analysis, Computer Networks and Protocols, Congestion Control, QoS, and Multimedia Networking.

Pan-sharpening considers one of the most important applications for satellite images as it enhanc... more Pan-sharpening considers one of the most important applications for satellite images as it enhances spectral and spatial information for the images. Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) is one of the most powerful techniques for pan-sharpening. It first decomposes the image into a set of Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs) and a residual component. These panchromatic and multispectral components are then fused to create an enhanced pan-sharpened image. This paper presents an efficient hybrid method for enhancing pansharpening of multiband images transmitted from satellite to ground stations. The proposed approach combines this EMD technique with the most powerful conventional method; Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), to maximize the pan-sharpening gain. The proposed hybrid method is validated using satellite images of Nile Valley and Suez Canal region, Egypt, captured by Spot-4 and Landsat-8 satellites. The results imply that the proposed hybrid method provides better qualitative and quantitative quality comparing with the individual and the most common pan-sharpening methods.

This paper presents a new hybrid approach, called ACOSA, for cloudlets scheduling to enhance the ... more This paper presents a new hybrid approach, called ACOSA, for cloudlets scheduling to enhance the scheduler behavior in Cloud computing (CC) environment and to overcome the results oscillation problem of the existing meta-heuristic scheduling algorithms. The proposed approach combines both the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) and Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm to improve both quality of solutions and time complexity of the scheduling algorithm. The proposed approach is evaluated by using the well-known CloudSim, and the results are compared with the ant colony and simulated annealing separately in terms of schedule length, load balancing, and time complexity. It decreases the schedule length by 29.75% with SA and 12.25% with ACO. The ACOSA provides higher load balancing degree. It improves the balancing degree ratio by 36.36% than SA and 12.13% than ACO algorithms.

Therefore, protecting confidentiality has become a very essential issue. Recently, several methods are developed to protect important information. The main idea is based on embedding important information in multimedia carrier such as: text, image, audio, and video. The developed methods may be classified as steganography and watermarking. Steganography aims to embed huge amount of secret data in multimedia carrier while watermarking aims to hid small amount of secret data in multimedia carrier. This paper first presents a literature survey of information hiding, then classifies the proposed methods, and finally introduces a comparative study between the different methods.

An Efficient Image Watermarking Approach based on Wavelet Fusion and Singular Value Decomposition in Wavelet Domain

ABSTRACT This paper presents an efficient image watermarking approach for data hiding over Intern... more ABSTRACT This paper presents an efficient image watermarking approach for data hiding over Internet. The proposed approach is developed using wavelet fusion and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) technique in multi-level Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). In the proposed approach, multiple watermarks are first combined into a single fused watermark by using the wavelet fusion to increase the embedded information capacity. Then, the fused watermark as well as the original image are decomposed into three cascade levels in the HH band using multi-level DWT, and the singular values of HH3 sub-band of the fused watermark is embedded in the singular values of HH3 sub-band of the original image by using the SVD technique. Finally, the inverse discrete wavelet transform is computed and the watermarked image is constructed. The experimental results verify that the proposed approach increases the capacity of embedded information without affecting the perceptual quality of the original image. Also, the proposed approach overcomes the emergence of diagonal in the extracted watermark. Indeed, the proposed approach is more robust where it perfectly extracts watermark in the presence of severe attacks.
