I have an extensive experience in planning, development and environmental management acquired through formal training, consultancies and research projects. I conducted several studies on issues related to regional planning and environmental management. I provided technical assistance in participatory strategic and action planning for urban and regional planning,and national environmental management programmes. Represented Egypt in several international conventions and meetings. I participated in designing several national and regional development projects. I led the evaluation of several development and environmental projects.
I worked with several agencies including, but not limited to, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) World Food Programme (WFP), Global Environment Facility (GEF), Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), i.e., The German Agency for International Cooperation; United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Economic Commission of Africa (ECA), African Development Bank (AfDB) and Arab Organization for Administrative Development (ARADO), which is an organization affiliated to the League of Arab States (LAS).
In 2006, K. Anan, the UN Secretary-General, appointed me as a member of the Advisory Group for Central Emergency Relief Fund (CERF) of Office of Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) for two years for my outstanding expertise in the fields of environment management and urban planning.
I coordinated the activities to elaborate Egypt’s National Environmental Action Plan. I have managerial capabilities and leadership skills that contribute to the successful and timely delivering of outputs and achieving aimed outcomes. I am familiar with UN system and procedures. I possess excellent communication skills with Government officials, donors’ representatives and leaders of civil-society organizations and private sector. These skills were instrumental in building consensus on issues and setting directions for future actions when he was responsible for the National Environemntal Action Plan (NEAP) of Egypt. I have outstanding computer skills in data management, and competent in advanced multivariate statistical analyses. I published more than twenty scientific papers in urban and regional planning, environmental management and sustainable development, and planning theories, methods and models.
