A Little Bit About Me
Hi, I’m Tonya. I have been sewing and quilting most of my life. I am the primary worker here at Memory Barn Studio, but my family is a huge support with ideas and encouragement.
My goal is to spread the word about fidget quilts in order to help patients who might need them. This is a special project for me. I discovered Fidget Quilts when my mom was diagnosed with Dementia. This is my way of honoring her memory--by helping others in a similar situation.
I also want you to experience the joy of owning your own T-shirt quilt that I have seen others have. These truly are one of a kind and a treasured family keepsake.
I am very excited to share that I have completed the Quilters Candy Pattern Writing Course, which has given me the tools to write the patterns for the fidget quilts.

What in the World is a Fidget Quilt?
A Fidget Quilt is simply a small sized quilt with items and textured fabric that a person can fidget with. They are associated with patients battling Alzheimer's and Dementia. But I am learning, it doesn't have to stop there. People with Parkinson's, Autism, or just a fidgety child can benefit from having a Fidget Quilt close by. When the patient gets agitated, these quilts can serve as a source of calm and activity for a time. Because of their size and they way we make them, these can easily be taken to doctor appointments or other places where you need to wait.
These Fidget Quilts can bridge the gap between the generations as well. A young toddler might pick up their grandparent’s fidget quilt and play with it. There can be a bond between the two that might not have otherwise occurred without the fidget quilt.

From the time you contact us, we will keep you in the design process from beginning to end. We have a form for you to fill out with your color preferences. We do ask that you send a picture of how you want the layout. From there, we will continue to contact you throughout the process to make a perfectly custom quilt for you or a loved one.
