EFOHCA Scholarships

The Educational Foundation of the Ohio Health Care Association (EFOHCA) is the educational arm of OHCA and a statewide leader in professional development for Ohio’s long‑term and post‑acute care workforce. Created to support the more than 100,000 long‑term care professionals across the state, EFOHCA delivers high‑quality training, resources, and continuing education designed to improve the lives of caregivers and the individuals they serve. 

Through conferences, seminars, webinars, and specialized programs led by expert faculty, EFOHCA provides timely, relevant, and practical education that strengthens care quality across Ohio’s skilled nursing, assisted living, home care, hospice, and ID/DD services. EFOHCA’s mission is deeply focused on elevating workforce excellence and ensuring providers have the knowledge and tools needed to deliver exceptional care. 

Since its founding in 1989, EFOHCA has also been a powerful driver of workforce advancement through its scholarship programs. The Foundation has awarded more than $3.2 million in scholarships to nearly 1,300 individuals, helping caregivers pursue degrees, credentials, and leadership development opportunities in long‑term care. These scholarships directly support career growth and help stabilize the long‑term services and supports workforce across the state. 

When donors invest in EFOHCA, they invest in:

EFOHCA Restricted Scholarships

Make a restricted gift to our Educational Foundation to establish an endowed scholarship in perpetuity bearing your chosen name.   Name scholarships are made in the following amounts, payable over a five-year installment payment and are tax-deductible.

  • Name Scholarship for $25,000
  • Premier Scholarship for $50,000
  • Platinum Scholarship for $100,000
  • Platinum Plus Scholarship for $250,000

EFOHCA Unrestricted Scholarships

 Donate to our Educational Foundation as an unrestricted fund donation. Support the Educational Foundation with an unrestricted gift that advances the Organization’s overall mission.  This charitable contribution can be made in honor of an individual or organization and will be recognized annually.

EFOHCA Bed Assessment Donation

Every year, OHCA requests voluntary donations from facility members to support our Educational Foundation.  This contribution is for the annual OHCA Bed Assessment.  For 2026, we recommend a donation of $1.50 a bed.  

This contribution strengthens the Educational Foundation’s ability to supplement each endowed scholarship, helping to ensure the named awards keep pace with the rising cost of tuition and post-secondary education.
