Description
From March 2024 onwards, Google announced that consent mode v2 is mandatory for the ad personalization features. You must collect consent from users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the UK to use their data for ad personalization and analytics.
Our solution for Google Consent Mode v2 in Magento 2 is here.
It helps you comply with privacy regulation laws and optimize data collection in your existing analytics (via GTM or gtag.js) setup.
Initially, the cookie consent banner is displayed to users on their first visit. The default cookie consent state is sent to Google via the data layer. Now, when the users set their preferences, the consent state is updated in tags. The users can also change their preferences using the cookie preferences option.
Google is also expanding its user consent policy to apply in Switzerland from July 31, 2024 onwards.
