With the use of materials found in nature, many instruments invented, developed and played by the human. After the acceptance of Islam by the 9th century, systematic studies were started on musical theory books and these books were inspired 15th-century books. Besides many issues, we can encounter many reference books written about Turkish music instruments in 15th. century especially in Abdülkadir Meragi's books like Camiü'l-elhân, Makasidü'l-elhân as a continuation of Kitabü'l-Edvâr written by Safiyyüddîn el-Urmevî music theorist of the 13th century. Most of these instruments have been forgotten or modified today. The aim of this study is to explore sloping plucked instruments in the 15th century and how they are used in the past and today. Also, we will play Abdülkadir Merâgi's some compositions which are during the oral presentation to have an idea about 15th. century music.

Besides musical theory subjects, sciences related to astronomy, geometry, mathematics, arithmetic... more Besides musical theory subjects, sciences related to astronomy, geometry, mathematics, arithmetic, instruments, instrument players, soloists, the good manners of soloists and instrument players are the subjects of edvâr books. In this work, the issues in the edvâr books of 15th century such as the good manners of music, suggestions to instrument players and soloists, teacher-student responsibilities will be transferred by classification. Therefore, behaviors of the musicians of that term will be revealed. ÖZET Mûsikî nazariyatı konularının yanı sıra; astronomi, geometri, matematik, aritmetik, çalgılar, sâzendeler, hânendeler, sâzende ve hânende âdâbı edvâr kitaplarının konuları arasındadır. Bu çalışmada XV. yüzyıl edvâr kitaplarında yer alan mûsikî âdabı, sâzende ve hânendelere tavsiyeler, hoca-öğrenci sorumlulukları gibi konular tasnif edilerek aktarılacaktır. Böylelikle o döneme ait mûsikîşinas davranışlarının ne şekilde olduğu ortaya konulacaktır.

Bu yapıda talebe ile üstadın sanat zemininde bir araya gelmeleri, içerisinde sanatın olduğu meclislerin oluşturulması, bu meclisteki âdâb ve erkân başlı başına bir kültürdür; meşk kültürüdür. Bu kültürün gelenekteki şeklini anlamada edvâr kitapları ise önemli kaynak eserlerdir. Makalede edvâr kitapları açısından zengin bir yüzyıl olan XV. yüzyıla bu pencereden bakılacak, mûsikî metinlerinde meşke dair izler aktarılacak ve bu okumanın neticesinde meşk kavramının XV. yüzyılda hangi alanı temsil ettiği, bu temsilin sınırlarının ne olduğu tartışılacaktır. Bu çalışmada XV. yüzyıl ve XVI. yüzyıl başında yazılmış olan edvâr kitaplarının latinize edilmiş şekilleri taranmış ve o döneme ait meşk kavramı bu metinler dâhilinde açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Abstract Meşk emerges as an important structure during art education and transferring of it. In this structure, meeting of student and master (teacher) on artistic ground, constituting meetings in which art activities are performed, rules and conventions in these meetings are independently a culture; that is Meşk. When it is needed to comprehend shape of this culture in tradition, Edvâr books come out as important written sources. Having fertileness in terms of Edvâr books, 15th century will be viewed from this aspect. Clues about Meşk in texts as to music, will be conveyed. In the light of this, it will be discussed what notion of Meşk represents in 15th centruy and what limits of this representation are. In this study, latinized Edvâr books which are written during 15th and 16th, has been investigated and the notion of Meşk in these period of time has been tried to explain.
