This culture dictates, instructs, teaches, guides, guards, and leads them in their daily activities. It was borne in their heart, incise in their offspring and pass from one generation to another. It spells out the specific moral standard to measure their deeds, which serve as basis for discrimination between right and wrong action in their societies. Today, it is another story, as civilisation has erupt almost all these cherished cultural values in the Yoruba communities - behaviours and acts or ways of Africans - through westernisation, especially the introduction of its religions to Africans. Undoubtedly, this has caused moral decadence and social menace that seems to be difficult to rectify. This is the thrust of this work. Therefore, the paper examines the concepts of moral value, the perception of African culture; western religions in African societies; and the evaluation of westernisation and African cultural values. The paper is approached from historical and ethical perspectives. In conclusion, it suggests practical ways of remedy the damage and restoration of these values.
