Hello everyone!

Well, we had a good opening game away to Newcastle, winning 0-2 thanks to goals by David Silva and Sergio Agüero! The upcoming match on Monday against Liverpool is going to kill me :-) tell me your thoughts on it! Feeling confident? Or are you nervous like me?

Anyway, time for a bit of news roundups!

New contracts and possible transfers?

  • Sergio Agüero signed a contract extension to keep him at MCFC until 2019!

  • Edin Džeko signed a contract extension to keep him at MCFC until 2018!

  • Matija Nastasic, Micah Richards, Scott Sinclair and John Guidetti to possibly be sold? :(

  • Valencia are inquiring about Alvaro Negredo and rumors say that if they meet the asking price he will be sold. Real Madrid snooping around again, as well.

Upcoming match

  • Team news! Everyone is fit, bar Negredo, who is still out with an injury to his 5th metatarsal. Pellegrini also thinks that Eliaquim Mangala of the Great Manchester City Transfer Saga of 2014 is still not yet ready and will probably make his debut against Stoke City at home.

Ice Bucket Challenge

In case you missed it, everyone's getting involved in the viral sensation known as the #ALSIceBucketChallenge! If you get nominated, you have 24 hours to film yourself pouring a bucket of ice-cold water on yourself to simulate the sensation which people afflicted with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) undergo. It's a cute trend but the important thing it does is that it raises awareness and donations to fund the development of treatment for this disease! For more information, please visit alsa.org and DONATE IF YOU CAN!! :) it really is a wonderful cause to get involved in, and every little bit helps.

Anyway, the Manchester City players and staff were nominated in various fora, so here is a list of them so far:

From the club website:

Here’s to you, Vincent Kompany…

In yet another significant boost ahead of the new season, one of the most decorated captains in the club’s history has committed his long-term future to City.

Kompany, 28, has put pen to paper on a new five-year contract which will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2019, at which point he will have been at the club for 11 years.

The Belgian joins Aleksandar Kolarov, Samir Nasri and David Silva in agreeing a new deal ahead of the 2014/15 kick-off against Newcastle on Sunday.

He told mcfc.co.uk, “When I arrived in 2008, I could never have dreamed that we could achieve what we have over the last six years but, for me, this is just the start of the journey.

“This team is stronger now than it’s ever been; we have competition for places in every position and a dressing room full of exceptional, motivated people who want to continue making history together.

“Lifting two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the Capital One Cup have been four of the best days of my life but I believe that there are many more of these occasions ahead.

“There are so many new landmarks and records to chase and I hope signing this new contract is taken as a statement of intent that I want to keep fighting for trophies for this special club."

“We have a common goal and so much to look forward to - a family of clubs, the opening of City Football Academy, exciting players coming through our youth system – why would I go anywhere else?”

Wonderful interview with CityTV here, with a message at the end that is both goosebump-inducing and heartwarming.

Two of our best players ever committed to long-term deals (that I genuinely believe they intend to see out)! How do you feel? I love how they both make it a point to say that they're both really settled in the team and that they're proud that they're building something. Silva's allegedly rejected Madrid three times since he's come here. Vinnie nearly left for Barcelona but ultimately decided to stay. We're so lucky to have such quality players as our on and off pitch leaders <3

Dat flawless mop of hair and cheeky left foot is here to stay!

David Silva has agreed terms on a new five-year deal at the Barclays Premier League champions.
The Spanish international has put pen to paper on a new contract which will see him remain at the Etihad Stadium until at least 2019.
Silva, who joined City from Valencia in the summer of 2010, will be 33-years old when this new deal expires.

Some quotes:

"From the moment I joined the club four years ago it has felt like a second home to me."
“On and off the pitch, I feel incredibly content and fulfilled professionally and personally, so why wouldn’t I want to stay and keep winning trophies with this fantastic team?
“Over the last four years, we have achieved so much together, establishing City as a dominating force in England and now, when I look around this dressing room, I can see no reason why we won’t become one of the top teams in the world.
“It was a straightforward decision to extend my stay here and spend my peak years at Manchester City, a club with unbelievable fans who have always supported me.”
