Math Circle Network

Math Circles are communities focused on  the enjoyment of mathematical problem solving. Meetings are lively, interactive, and often “funstrating”: challenging, but in a highly rewarding way! There are nearly 300 Math Circles around the U.S., including approximately 150 Math Teacher Circles and another 150 Math Student Circles. Global Math Project

The Global Math Project is a community of people who want all learners and teachers across the globe to experience joy in school-relevant mathematics. The project’s vision is to bring the world together through common math experiences, opening the doors for all. Over 7 million students, teachers, and math enthusiasts from more than 150 countries have experienced our transformative approach to mathematics.

Alliance of Indigenous Math Circles

The Alliance of Indigenous Math Circles is a global and inclusive community of Math Circles supporting Indigenous students and teachers. Tribal participation in the Alliance includes mathematicians students, teachers and other leaders from the Hopi, Choctaw of Oklahoma, Chickasaw of Oklahoma, and Pueblo tribes of New Mexico. We have also worked with Indigenous students, teachers, and leaders from the Highlands of Guatemala, various parts of Mexico, and Nepal.

Math MATCH

MATH MATCH is a semester-long program, directed by AIM and sponsored by MAA Tensor SUMMA, pairing mathematicians interested in K-12 outreach with socioeconomically disadvantaged Title I middle school classrooms. The program aims to improve historically underrepresented students’ attitudes and confidence about mathematics by providing engaging mathematical experiences and meaningful opportunities to interact with practicing mathematicians, or MATCH Fellows.

Math Monday

Math Monday is a weekly drop-in lunchtime or after-school activity where students can get hands-on with math games, puzzles and manipulatives that help build their math skills. Math Monday is intended to reach all students at their own pace and is especially well suited for elementary students in grades K-5.

Association for Women in Mathematics

The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) aims to create a community in which women and girls can thrive in mathematics, and to promote gender-inclusivity across the mathematical sciences. The Chat With a Mathematician program is for K-12 teachers who want to spread the word that math is fun and to make their students aware of opportunities in the mathematical sciences. Visit the Chat With a Mathematician website to find out more about classroom visits (primarily virtual, but in-person when possible) from professional mathematicians, graduate students, and undergraduate math majors.

Art of Problem Solving (AoPS)

Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) is training the intellectual leaders of the next generation. AoPS Outreach Initiatives is building a diverse pipeline of students prepared to pursue the highest levels of STEM academically and professionally. We equip communities historically underrepresented in STEM with math enrichment resources at no cost to students, families, or schools.  Using our colorful textbooks, online games and live classes, students explore and master advanced mathematics, and develop into inspired problem solvers, ready to tackle the future’s toughest problems.

Early Family Math

Early Family Math believes social math play is the key to math education during a child’s earliest and most important learning years. We seek to improve math education and attitudes for young children during their first 8 years in all families in all communities. Central to this is creating an environment where families and children enjoy math as a fun activity to do together.

The Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival (JRMF) aims to inspire joy in mathematics through exploration and collaboration. We do this through engaging educators and students through festive events, supporting underserved communities, and creating high-quality, accessible materials.

LIVE Math

At Po-Shen Loh’s LIVE Math, we inspire middle schoolers to discover joy and confidence in mathematics. Our mission is to create engaging, interactive, and transformative math experiences for students of all backgrounds, particularly those from underserved communities. By pairing professional actors with exceptional high school math mentors, we bring learning to life in a way that empowers students to think creatively and tackle challenging problems. Our LIVE Math Scholarship Program provides free tuition for highly-motivated students from Title I schools to join our innovative online classes.

MathHappens Foundation creates opportunities for families and communities to explore mathematics through play, curiosity, and hands-on experiences. We partner with museums, libraries, and other public institutions to host Math Rooms – dedicated spaces for open-ended math exploration – and to share Open Play Kits – portable collections of engaging activities that invite learners of all ages to discover math together. Our work is rooted in accessibility, creativity, and collaboration, with a commitment to reaching diverse audiences and supporting educators through shared resources and partnerships.

Math for Love is devoted to transforming how math is taught and learned. We support a play-based, rigorous approach on mathematics, with a summer curriculum and award-winning games including Prime Climb, Tiny Polka Dot, Multiplication by Heart, and moreWe share openers, games, and rich tasks for grades K – 10 in our Free Lesson Library, as well as puzzles for middle and high schoolers.

Math Kangaroo

Math Kangaroo USA is a national nonprofit organization with a mission of helping students love math. For 26 years, Math Kangaroo has organized an annual international mathematical competition for thousands of students in grades K-12. Math Kangaroo’s resources include free sample questions, free workshops, free video questions and solutions, and webinars. Additionally, high school participants can engage in President’s Volunteer Service Award certified volunteer opportunities, and Math Kangaroo extends internship opportunities to alumni.
National Math Stars

National Math Stars

National Math Stars is a nonprofit with the mission of ensuring mathematically extraordinary students from all communities have the resources they need to reach the frontiers of math and science. Our Stars, who start with us in elementary school, receive ten years of wraparound support including math mentorship, family advising, community gatherings, and funding. The program is free to all partner schools, applicants, and participants.

We want to introduce them to the exciting and complex world around them. Everything can be a learning tool, a rich toy, and a conversation starter.

At the Seattle Universal Math Museum (SUMM), we believe that math is universal and everyone can be a mathematician. It doesn’t require a fancy degree or discovering a new theorem—only engaging in mathematical thought. Founded in 2019, SUMM is committed to making mathematics accessible and equitable for all learners.

talkSTEM is a nonprofit organization that partners with youth-serving organizations both in and out of school to grow mathematical and STEM mindsets by providing open-access resources and guides that can be flexibly used in varied educational settings. talkSTEM’s research-based initiatives focus on place-, phenomena-, and inquiry-based learning with the goal of having all children and their educators see the world around them through the lens of math and STEM. talkSTEM’s creative guides and video library empower all children by highlighting the central role of their own questions in their evolving mathematical and STEM identities.

MathHappens Foundation brings hands-on, engaging math models and learning experiences to events and programs hosted by informal education institutions, makerspaces, libraries, museums and public venues of all kinds.  We incorporate history, culture and community into our field trip programs and we use digital technology like laser cutters to make models, displays and activities that not only teach the math, but inspire and empower participants to design and make their own learning materials.  We are interested in communicating mathematical ideas, engaging a diverse learner population and supporting other educators through grants, collaborations, and an open exchange of ideas.
