Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Indigineity (EDII)
The Mathematics and Statistics EDII Committee will:
- Identify issues of equity, diversity, inclusion, and indigineity affecting equity-deserving communities (including but not limited to First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, members of racialized communities/communities of colour, newcomers and refugees, members of diverse faith communities, persons with disabilities, gender-diverse and sexually marginalized communities, and women), and discuss, develop and advance strategies to remove barriers to and enhance EDII in the Mathematics & Statistics Department
- Consult and collaborate with EDII committees and/or initiatives within the Faculty of Science and across the University, and align all work with McMaster University’s “Towards Inclusive Excellence” EDII Strategy;
- Determine issues of priority for the Mathematics & Statistics Department and make recommendations to the Faculty of Science or other University offices through the Department Chair;
- Communicate plans, priorities, and progress through regular reports presented at departmental meetings and posted directly on the department webpage.
