An experienced attorney (lets say with 20 years or more experience) in the Chicago metropolitan area (including northwest Indiana and southern Wisconsin) should bill at least $300 per hour, and potentially up to $500 per hour or more, depending upon reputation, location, and area of practice. A corporate attorney who is a senior partner in a large Chicago law firm will bill more than a sole practitioner who has an office in the suburbs. Fees vary greatly, but generally you get what you pay for.
