If you have a computer in front of you (which is probably true, since you're reading this question!), and you need a quick answer, you can just use the copy-and-paste feature and built-in calculator. But since it's a useful skill to be able to add numbers without a machine, I'll give you a few tips on adding large numbers: * Start by putting the larger number over the other, and line them up along the right side. * Take it one column at a time- don't concentrate on all of it at once. * Make small notes for carried numbers, so you can keep track of them. * Write down everything- try not to keep track of everything in your head.

Finally, if you want a quick estimate (this is not recommended for homework problems!), just round it to the highest place value and add the numbers in your head.
