This “extra virgin wood” is a warm and visually appealing biomaterial that combines the appearance of wood with the tactile quality of ceramic. It is produced from processed olive pits, biopolymers, and other natural additives, forming a compound that hardens into a rigid material after drying.
Under natural conditions, the material is 100% biodegradable and fully circular. Once dried, it can be re-melted using heat and reused. It offers strong mechanical performance and can be worked in a similar way to wood, making it highly versatile. Its natural texture is slightly rough, though it can be sanded to achieve a smooth, refined finish. When combined with natural pigments, a wide range of integral colours can be created, expanding its design possibilities.
The material can be cast into moulds to produce complex shapes without generating waste. Once hardened, it can be machined using CNC equipment, laser cutters, saws, or lathes. All offcuts and shavings can be collected and reused. The material can also function as an adhesive, allowing components to be welded together and enabling the production of mono-material objects.
