BIOFIBIX supplies flax fabrics for lightweight composite applications. Yet despite growing interest, mass adoption remains limited due to high costs, excessive resin uptake, and moisture sensitivity. BIOFIBIX addresses these barriers through a unique fibre treatment, a cost‑effective production process, and a fully controlled flax supply chain.

BIOFIBIX is a spin-off from KU Leuven, where both the fibre treatment and cost-efficient manufacturing process were developed. Supported by shareholder Vanacker Rumbeke, a third-generation flax grower and scutcher in Belgium’s traditional flax region, BIOFIBIX oversees the entire supply chain from field to reinforcement, ensuring consistent quality and price stability. Our flagship product, HYPERMAT, delivers performance comparable to conventional flax fabrics at roughly half the cost.
