Today I crossed a major thing off my bucketlist! I went skydiving with <\/a>pikasafire<\/b><\/a><\/span>and <\/a>barefoot_starz<\/b><\/a><\/span>. So awesome and amazing - freefall is the most fun ever!

The plane was tiny - myself and <\/a>pikasafire<\/b><\/a><\/span> were squished in the back with the guys we were jumping attached to - we did a tandem jump - and there was a guy doing a solo jump who got out at 4000ft in there too, plus the pilot it was a little close and personal space was non-existent, particularly once they attached the harnesses.

I went first and falling out of the plane was such a rush! The freefall (approx 200kph for 3000 ft - 1km) last about 35 seconds... supposedly. Went real quick I tell you. Then it was a case of floating down to the ground in circles until you land on your arse back where you started. All in all good fun and I definitely want to do that again, but next I think the plan is rock climbing and abseiling at Morialta National Park or Onkaparinga Gorge and paintball.

    So.... the festival I was really looking forward to attending in October was cancelled today. Apparently the co-headliner pulled out - this would be the same headliner of whose existence we didn't know about until last week - really made a difference to ticket sales, I tell you.

    The article     here <\/a>explains it best, and possibly the nicest - for the event organisers at least. The Vine<\/a> also has a decent article on the whole thing.

    It was rumoured to have been because of Limp Bizkit (woo.... insert unenthusiastic hand waving here) that the whole thing was cancelled. Some enterprising person did this -

    before it was edited back a short while later.

    There is some consolation though. There will be mini festivals. On the East Coast. And not all the bands will come out here for them - so that blows. And too bad if you don't live in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne - guess you just miss out. Sucks to be you. (Which I'm one of - Melbourne is the closest and we're talking a minimum of an 11 hour drive) That's rather the attitude I'm getting from the organisers. How do you fail so hard at organising a festival?

    So we'll see. I start a new job next week, I may not be able to get time off to travel interstate to see however many bands perform on however many occasions. I think I'll go back to sticking with my Australian bands who do tour to the city I live in.

    Managed to get my hands on a ticket for Powderfinger's Sunsets Farewell Tour. Show was fantastic - if I can get a ticket for the October show i'm tempted to go again. I was in GA - standing, which had me worried since i'm 5' 2"and thus can see over barely anything, or more to the point, barely anyone. However, I got there early enough thast I could stake out a spot roughly central and I wound up being at the furtherest 10 people back from the front of the stage.

    Had a great night - the openers were a Queensland band called Yves Saint Blue. They weren't too bad, song #1 was good as was #5 & 6 the middle one's were not great, including one I dubbed "the one where the bassist screams into his mike for no apparant reason". I think there was a song about dinosaurs as well...

    Next up were Jet. Now I don't care what anyone else says, but I quite like them. Still. There I said it. Pretty good set, played lots of their new stuff - the look of resignation on Nic's face when they played the opening of Are You Gonna Be My Girl<\/em> was amsuing. Here, have some pics.

    Cameron Muncey - guitarist and who I like to refer as the hook for     <\/a>pikasafire<\/b><\/a><\/span> into Jet - you can't deny it, you have a type.

    Nic Cester - he was also wearing a srtipy scarf earlier in the night. It was Chris' birthday that night and they had hugs on stage - didn't get a photo though...

    The bassist - Mark Wilson - made me grin. if Pete Wentz and Mikeyway had a lovechild, i bet it'd play bass like him. If I ever figure out how to upload my video of Seventeen <\/em>from the night, you too will see what I mean.

    Alas, all good things, including Jet, must come to an end to make way for the main act.

    Powderfinger were amazing, but that really felt like a farewell show. I don't think I'm ready for it to all be over. Not much to say other than it was all very amazing and I wanna go again. Oh! And Bernard Fanning refers to Adelaidians as "Ade-ladies and Gentleman" - so cute!

    While they were all nicking off up the back to play Like a Dog<\/em> and Belter<\/em> (???) they played a series of images on thre screen. I really liked the look of the drum kit silhouetted against these so I got a little snap happy.

    Darren Middleton (guitarist) performed (The Return of) The Electric Horseman<\/em>. The image on the screen in the background reminds me so strongly of the cover from Vulture Street<\/em>.

    Proof that it's not just drummers who get to play the shaky thingy. Sometime the bassist gets given it too. And looks just as impressed.

    Even during a show on your final tour there's always time to take a moment and all congregate and play to your drummer. Or so it would seem.

    All in all a good night - even if I din't get home til really late and then have to get up at 6 for work, that sucked I tell you.

    And while I remember - -anyone still want that Cobra and specifically, Nate picspam I was some what planning a while back? Gimme a heads up and I might actually get on it.
