The book group started in January 2026 and sits at 7 so far. We have now had 3 events at Gaia Gathering. Our first was a speaker on a local community food growing group and the conversation included 13 participants. Our second event was a screening of the People's Emergency Briefing film and around 20 were there. The discussion was fed back to our local MSP and a meeting has been arranged to discuss in August. Our third event was a creative sessions where we used recycled materials to explore songlines or song spirals as a means to connect to special place in Argyll. There we welcomed 5 participants who happily went home with meaningful pieces of handmade art that connected them perfectly to the land. Future events include a talk on shamanism and the connection that we have to the land, a conversation about a local permaculture project and the screening of the Transition Network's documentary series 'Hope'. Our first screening of that is through the Web of Life Book Club in September, with other episodes being screening every second month.

We are trying to share local projects and individuals so that all can become connected and in turn inspire/educate those who are new to talking about and exploring environmental issues.

We are a community environmental education group that evolved organically from an environmental book group that started in January 2026. As a very new group we are involved in becoming a place of connection, conversation, collaboration and community.

There are many individuals and groups working within Argyll & Bute to address damage to the non-human world and to establish resilience in the face of climate change.  There is so much knowledge and expertise already out there in our community and beyond.  We hope to bring that knowledge here to be shared and explored.

Events will be a mix of speakers, film screenings and interactive courses/experiences.  The Web of Life Book Club Dunoon will continue alongside this group and both will feed each other.
