Getting localization right is harder than it looks

Most localization problems don't show up until players notice them. From lines of dialogue sounding off, terms changing their meaning halfway through the game to a tone changing between chapters. Publishers who've been through this tell us the same story: lack of actual process behind the scenes, freelancers working in isolation, no shared resources, no one managing the process or the final quality – and with no way to be aware of the challenges until it's too late.

Anyone can say their localization is high quality. We build processes that make it provable –  from the moment we recruit a localizer to the feedback score we collect on regular basis.

Rigorous recruitment

We don't work with generalist translators. Each localizer we bring is assessed on gaming knowledge, genre familiarity, cultural understanding, and game localization craft. The right person for your game isn't whoever is available but whoever actually fits.

Custom reference materials

Every project gets its own glossary, style guide and terminology database built from scratch and the teams are always provided with as much context as we can gather. The tone of voice and world-specific language stay consistent from the first string to the last – and across every language pair.

Active team management

We don't hand off a brief and disappear. We manage the localization teams throughout the project: coordinating decisions, maintaining consistency, solving problems before they reach you.

Dialogues, UI strings, tutorials, item descriptions and everything in between. Every project gets a dedicated team, custom reference materials and active management from briefing to final delivery. We work across all genres and platforms, with specialist teams assembled to match your game's tone, world and audience.

Localization testing (LQA)

Accuracy, consistency, playability

 We check your localized build in context – in the actual game, not just a spreadsheet – catching truncation, mismatched terminology, tone drifts and cultural misfires before your players do. Available as a standalone service or as a part of a full localization project.

Scoping and briefing – before we start

We define the scope together – translation and proofreading, including review phase or not, adding LQA or choosing a full package for this particular game – so there are no surprises once work begins.

Reference materials and team prep

We gather game context, glossaries, tone notes, platform requirements, and age restrictions – and organize everything internally so our localization teams arrive briefed, not guessing.

Localization and (pro)active collaboration

Our teams flag cultural nuances and suggests market-specific enhancements. Your answers shape the final result – and we make that dialogue easy rather than burdensome.

Built by people who love games – and care about the people who make them

Mana Translation was founded in 2014 by a group of game localization colleagues who shared two convictions: that the industry deserved better quality, and that it was possible to build a studio where doing great work and being treated well weren't in conflict. We started with a premium approach from day one – not as a positioning strategy, but because we genuinely couldn't imagine doing it any other way.

Today the core team is Asia, Natalia and Karolina – backed by a trusted pool of specialist freelance localizers who've been with us through projects of every size and genre. We're small by design. Every client works with people who are genuinely invested in their game, not assigned to it.

In games, mana is the energy that powers everything – the resource that makes skills, spells and actions possible. That's the mana factor we bring to every localization project. Not just linguistic skill, but the energy of people who actually care: about your game, about your players, and about the relationship we build with your team along the way.
