Help make Learn WordPress available in more languages by translating existing lessons, courses, and lesson plans into your language. Every translated piece of content makes WordPress education accessible to more people around the world.
Before you start
Complete the common setup first, then:
- Setup: The Training Team tracks all translation work in the WordPress/Learn GitHubGitHub GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged by the repository owner. https://github.com/ repository — you’ll need to open a GitHub issue before you start translating
- Read: Work through the Content Translator Onboarding page to understand the translation workflow and make your first contribution

The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/ and introduce yourself
Steps
- Complete the Getting Started guide. The Getting Started page includes an intro video about the Training Team’s mission and helps you identify the contribution area that suits you best.
- Find content to translate. Check the LearnWP Content – Localization project board for open issues in your locale, or browse the High Priority Content to Translate list for suggestions on where to start.
- Open a GitHub issue. Create a new Content Translation issue using the Content Translation template. This lets the team track your work and offer support throughout the process.
- Translate the content. Follow the Translating Content guide for the specific steps for each content type. You can use any tool you’re comfortable with — Google Docs is a common choice as it allows easy sharing with reviewers.
- Submit for review. Update your GitHub issue with a link to your translation and request a translation review. A reviewer will check your work for accuracy and consistency before it’s published.
Contribution checklist
- GitHub issue created using the Content Translation template
- Content translated following the Translating Content guide and your locale’s style guide
- Translation submitted for review via the GitHub issue
What happens next
A reviewer will check your translation and may suggest changes — that’s a normal part of the process. Once approved, a Translation Coordinator will help get the content published on Learn WordPress. The Training Team meets weekly; check the meeting calendar for times.
When you’re ready, pick another piece of content to translate or help review translations from other contributors in your locale.
