Retro Handheld Simulator Game Boy
A downloadable game
INTRODUCTION
Retro Handheld Simulator is a short, silly game making fun of the retro handheld community (including myself). It is not designed to be taken seriously.
You can download the game for free! If you like it and have the means you can make a small donation or maybe check out my commercial games.
CONTROLS
Standard RPG rules apply. Direction buttons move you around and use button A to interact. Retro Handheld Simulator resets as the days pass, so it pays to revisit things you have already interacted with.
NARRATIVE
I recommend reading the narrative at least the first time around. However, narratives can be toggled on/off with SELECT.
COMPATIBILITY
The game is for the Game Boy Original and should be playable on any Game Boy or emulator that can play .gb files.
A .pocket file is now available for the Analogue Pocket
On some handhelds you can copy the zip itself. This will ensure the .gb file doesn't get corrupt.

This is cute and fun! I gotta ask though: Is there an end to get to? Can you win? (Or lose?) Or does it just keep going forever?
If there's an end I wanna see it, but I'm over 100xp and it seems most stuff is just repeating.
Like a metaphor for retro handhelds, there is no end!
Just played it for a while. It's a very humorous take on the community aspect of it, eheh. I didn't fully understand if there is an end goal, but I assume it goes more into a "do as you wish and play around" without an objective. But give it an objective like reach 100 points, and it's a contained game just as it is. Nice one, I'd play it again with more features in the future. Keep up!
Sorry, noob question where do I put the .pocket file on my Pocket?
I'd love to tell you but I don't own an Analogue Pocket. :(
This guide might help.
I love the name Madsox Games, because my name is Mads 😆👍
On the SD Card you use for your Pocket, there should be a Folder "GB Studio", simply drop the game file in there. You should be then able to play it by going to Tools > GB Studio > Play Creations
This is correct. Just follow his instructions, and you will be money.
Brother, WHAT ENGINE did you use to make this? GOdot? Game Maker? Unity?
