Uchuu Majin Daikengo: Episodes 01-26 *Completed v3 Batch*

After the release of the v2 batch, an unexpected error had occurred in the videos.  I received multiple reports of the videos not functioning in VLC Player.  After downloading the player and testing it out for myself, the reports had been confirmed.  Therefore, I had to make brand new encodes of the Daikengo videos using a different and more compatible codec   Fortunately, the new encodes worked in VLC Player when muxxed into an MKV container format.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only fix that was made.  Along the way, I had to make the scripts’ timing to fit with the new encodes.  That meant going over EVERY SINGLE LINE in all twenty-six videos and making tweaks to the script along the way.  Hopefully, this will be the last time any fixes will need to be made for my Daikengo subs.

New batch torrents have been updated to Nyaa.si, AniDex, and BakaBT.  Download them from those sites.  Direct Downloads are also available.

UFO Senshi Dai Apolon v2 Batch Released!

GASSHIN!!!

At last, after going through the scripts for a little over two weeks straight, I went through all twenty-six episodes of UFO Senshi Dai Apolon, and fixed any errors I came across and made sure all file names were consistent once and for all.  It was hard work, but it’s a labor of love, and I’m glad that this project is finally behind me!  Download the batch torrent at sites like AniDex and Nyaa.si.

Thank you to everyone to everyone who followed this project until its end, and an especially big thank you to all those involved in the project:  Nanto, sky79, jigen, zegond, Ookalf, and BendesidaOty.

UFO Senshi Dai Apolon(Batch Torrent 01-26)
[Nyaa.si]https://nyaa.si/view/997072
[AniDex]https://anidex.info/torrent/112209

And now, some final thoughts from people involved in the project.  First, Ookalf…

To be honest, I’m not sure I knew what I was getting into when I volunteered to help out with this. I’d never really done this sort of solo QC work before. It honestly got pretty stressful, making sure everything was just right. In the end, I’d like to think I at least did a decent job of it. I hope you all enjoyed it, too!

I wasn’t too familiar with the show itself, either. I basically only volunteered because I heard giant robots were involved. Heh… Maybe not the brightest move I’ve ever made. Still, once I actually started watching the show, I got pretty into it! I found the whole “becoming the robot” angle pretty interesting – a bit Ultraman-esque, actually. And now that I think about, they’re both solar powered aliens, too. Hmm…

Anyway, where was I? Ah, right. The villains, too, were pretty interesting. You really start to feel for them, especially as we learn more about their true motives. And the ending… Well, there were parts I wasn’t expecting, I’ll say that much!

So, that’s my story, I guess. It’s been a blast, and I hope you’ve all had as much with these Unidentified Football-playing Objects as I have!

Next is the project TL-Checker, sky79.  Before anyone says anything, any gripes or rants about her English will NOT be tolerated.  If I see anyone post any insults or rants about this, I will go in rant mode in 0.000001 seconds!

First, I’m glad you’ve shown me this one. I didn’t know it, and frankly, at beginning I was expecting somehow “boring” anime.
But it turned to be pretty well.
Simply story, and not too long, exactly what you would want to watch, even if such theme/genre isn’t interesting for you.
Well, this genre is not what I prefer, or maybe what I would prefer, because nowadays I rarely watch any anime (not enough time).

At that time, when you asked me, I just said to myself, I should try it. If I’m not able to help you, then I can still stop with that.
I actually thought the work would be more difficult, but thanks to those spanish version, it wwasn’t as I expected.
So, whoever translated it into spanish, did really good work. Of course, from spanish to english as well.
The rest was then much more easier.

What I liked (and probably more from translating-view) was, that they didn’t speak too much.
There weren’t many “useless” sentences, well maybe in some explanations, but they tried to really describe scene, and what happened.
It’s good, if there are informations about many things, but sometimes it just goes into too much details.
And then, it starts to be more and more difficult (at least for me 🙂 ).
Right now, I just looked at the script and I can’t believe, it is already 6 years from the time when I did the first episode.
I thought it wasn’t so long. Well, time flies.

I liked the fact that you could guess ending of each episode, and you would still be right. Though the last one was quite surprising.
I mean, I didn’t expect it to end like that – that Dazaan will actually revived, even though the wrong things their leader did.
Ah, but you can’t consid er that every one who was living at Dazaan should have been responsible for doing of their leader. so in this aspect,
it’s only right that the wrong-one was punished and others not. And leader still found out,
that there was better way to achieve his goal (do I remember it correct? I mean, in the end he agreed with that fact that he was wrong for long time).
Then, there is something positive in this anime.

I must say I didn’t like the color of some scenes. Everything was very dark. Or, they just used only few color, like blue or violet.
And very rarely some very bright colors, like yellow or so. It’s a pity, because it makes you think that the story is very sad or so.

And of course, funny, since denying many physical laws, and forgetting ideas or persons they were at beginning.
Like, Apolon is based on sunlight, but still he could fight even when there was on sun. Or in mostly episodes, where this reason wasn’t needed.
And, besides Mako, all the kids in orphanage were somehow forgotten. Though, you have to pity Mako. She was nice, I liked her way of doing.

But, despite of all this, I had fun when I watched this. It wasn’t too complicated and had some great points, like you can’t be always the only one hero,
you have to rely on your friends and work together (when he was not able to unite), apolon destroy and of course ending with Gyranik.
He was good commander.
Though he realized it probably too late.

I’m glad I could help you. I could then watch something like this, a genre I wouldn’t have probably watched if you hadn’t asked me to help.
It was funny, and easy to follow. And I learned something new, at least about fighting robots in anime.
so, I thank to everyone, who helped with this one. and everyone who watched it and had fun as I did.

And I wish you, that you will bring others your work successfully to the end.

Next up is some words from our artisan typesetter, Zegond…

What I remember most about this show was the fact that I started this show to remain on the typesetting scene despite being so busy. I had just started my career on that time and I was so busy, but agreed to do this show because I really liked to help luurah in giving releases with more quality, and although I’m not a mecha fan, the fact that I knew im working on a show that is liked by many, kept me going.
The show sounded so easy on typesetting, but had its own challenges as well.
The whole good thing that happened in the final episodes of the show, was the fact that me and luurah decided to try kanban agile methodology to our work in order to be more organized and productive.
It had awesome results just like magic, and I applied this method on the other group I was working with and it also made its magic on that team as well.
For me, these 2 years are so magical personally and this show will always be a reminder of a time I tried so hard to grow on my career

More will be added whenever possible.  For the time being, download and watch the full first season of UFO Senshi Dai Apolon in its subtitled glory!

Video Warrior Laserion: 01-03

laserion01laserion02
laserion03

Depending on what part of the world you’re on, this could be the final release of 2017 or the first release of 2018. Nevertheless, Episodes 01, 02 and 03 of Video Warrior Laserion, a joint project with The Skaro Hunting Society, has been released!

So many people were involved in improving these videos exponentially. All names were listed on Nanto’s post, but I’ll list them there as well. Thanks to Kiseki 83 for the initial translation scripts. Also, thanks to Afternoon Teasan, doanobu and the almighty Ametuchi! Many thanks to Pundercracker of Megabeast Empire and HeatMetal, who has worked with Midnight Crew Fansubs and Over-Time, for QC passes on the episodes as well. Auron_Kenobi, thank you as well.

Also, a big thanks to Nanto for helping with this project! It’s an honor working with you on another fansub project, and I hope this continues for a very long time.

[EDIT:  Video Warrior Laserion has been licensed by Discotek Media.  Be sure to support the official release when it comes out!]

Uchuu Majin Daikengo: Episodes 16 – 18

Don’t worry.  The subninjas didn’t get to me this time.  I was taking a break due to “lack of motivation”.  I’m still around.  To prove it, I’m releasing episodes 16, 17 & 18 of Uchuu Majin Daikengo!

Both the Italian and Spanish dubs were used as a base for these episodes.  Episodes 16 & 17 used the Spanish dub, translated by myself and BendesidaOty.  Episode 18 used the Italian dub as a base, translated by Griffon.  (Thanks again, Griffon!)

daikengo14

On Episode 16, titled “The Planet of Migratory Birds”, every planet is looking forward to the arrival of a flock of robotic migratory birds that flies from planet to planet, a symbol of everlasting friendship and peace.  As for the Magellans, Lady Baracross has some vile plans for the birds… like turning them into missiles that bring armageddon to any planet they come across!  As for Prince Ryger and company, they visit Planet Arabida where they meet up with their minister of defense, Laurenz, and Arabida’s sickly princess, Carina.  (Hmm… “Laurenz of Arabida“… where have I heard that before…?)

daikengo15

On Episode 17, titled “Friendship on the Third Planet”, we return to Earth where Sabu dreams of meeting Ryger again.  However, Earth takes a turn for the worst when General Roboleon feigns a peaceful cooperation with Earth.  Of course, Sabu knows what intentions Roboleon truly has, so it’s up to him to call Prince Ryger back to Earth and convince Earth’s dignitaries to not side with the wolf in sheep’s clothing.

daikengo16

As for Episode 18, titled “The Mysterious Ghost Planet”, the focus is now on Planet Atlan, a haunted planet that is rumored to be a “space graveyard”.  Grand Emperor Magellan wants to know of any secrets the planet might have, and Lady Baracross sends a reluctant Roboleon to do her dirty work.  As for Prince Ryger, he has to rescue a spaceship that drifted too close to Planet Atlan.  Too bad he has to do it alone as Cleo doesn’t feel so well.  Perhaps her Aunt Flo came for a visit…

Now, I’ll discuss the voice actors of Anike and Otoke:  Toku Nishio & You Inoue respectively.

Toku Nishio provided the voices for Daimaru in the “Robot Carnival OAV”, Musashi Tomoe in “Getter Robo”, and Mr. Popo from the Dragon Ball series.  Sadly, Toku Nishio passed away on July 19, 2005.

As for the legendary You Inoue, she had many famous voice roles in her career.  Some of her most famous roles include Sheryl Formossa in “Space Runway Ideon”, Reika Sanjou in “Invincible Steel Man Daitarn 3” and Manabu in “Daltanious: Robot of the Future”.  One her last roles was of Ryou Bakura in the first season of Yu-Gi-Oh.  Sadly, she developed lung cancer in 2001 and later passed away on Feburary 2, 2003.  Her role of Ryou Bakura was later taken over by Rika Matsumoto after Inoue’s death.

State of Luurah Productions Post-Nyaapocolypse

I’m sure everyone has been mourning the loss of NyaaTorrents.  (Heck, I still am, but I can understand the site owner’s reasons.)  This, however, left a gaping void that’s virtually impossible to fill.  Also, I had that notice that SolidFiles was going to shut down by the end of May.  Well, I can tell you this much… SolidFiles is -NOT- shutting down.  It’s still running as of now.  But you know what… fuck that!  I moved all my files to Userscloud, and I am not changing that.  If you go to the Direct Download page, all links now point to Userscloud, so that issue is resolved.

The torrent issue is a bit trickier.  I did set up an account on AniDex and uploaded my torrents there… though I had to batch everything up so that I didn’t have to upload over a hundred torrent files at once.  As a result, some file names were corrected in the process.  This was especially noticeable when compiling the Dai Apolon 01-21 batch.  I really messed up the file names on that set over the years.  Oops!

Also, there’s Nyaa.si… which is pretty much what Nyaa.se used to be.  I’ve also set up an account there, so I can upload torrents to that site as well.  Besides, Saizen Fansubs, the group whom I’ve been working with on Magnerobo Ga-Keen, decided to upload their torrents there from now on.  Any future Ga-Keen releases will be uploaded to Nyaa.si.  Everything else will be uploaded to both AniDex and Nyaa.si.

We’re heading toward a world where NyaaTorrents is now a memory.  To those involved into the original NyaaTorrents, thank you for your selfless actions to anime fandom for so many years.

Uchuu Majin Daikengou: 13-15

Sadly, Onidragon from TMUSubs has gone missing in action. Therefore, for the time being, Uchuu Majin Daikengo will be a Luurah Productions project only and no longer a joint project. To OniDragon, wherever you are, I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you’re doing well. Thank you for your involvement with this project up to this point.

And now, onto the newest episodes of Daikengo to be released…

daikengo13

On Episode 13, titled “The Secret of Planet Burai”, Prince Ryger and company encounters a robot named Spal, constructed by the Magellan armies as a way to learn of Bryman’s identity and, eventually, assassinate the vagabond swordsman. However, Spal’s programming may have gone awry as it appears to have developed its own free will. Whether that’s a stroke of genius or just a glitch on the Magellans’ part is up for debate.

If you like this episode, you might like “The Great Adventure of Horus, Prince of the Sun“, a 1968 anime film that was directed by Isao Takahata.  This was also the first of several films in which Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki collaborated over the years.  Also, this film is available on Region 1 DVD by Discotek Media.

daikengo14

As for Episode 14, titled “Blueprints of the Mobile Planet”, our intrepid heroes run into Captain Nigero and his crew from Planet Coolina. Apparently, these people have gone yellow and ran away from the Magelllan Empire, abandoning their planet in the process. However, this is all a facade once Prince Ryger and company arrives on the planet and find a robot girl named Roscarl. You’ll just have to download and find out more.

The character, Roscarl, might reminds some viewers of the 1968 tokusatsu series, Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot(a.k.a. Giant Robo).  Like Daikengo, the tokusatsu version of this show is owned by Toei.  Also, the show is available on Region 1 DVD by Shout! Factory.

daikengo15

As for Episode 15, titled “Monster Planet of Evil”, we’re now on Planet Alpes, a quaint and inhabited planet that’s also home to a race of giant monsters called “monkira” (“Dragon” in the Italian & Spanish dubs) which look like the cross between a centaur and a monkey. Prince Ryger and his crew run into a smaller monkira and name him “Chibi”. (Japanese for “little”; was named “Tinytot” in both the Italian & Spanish dubs) However, General Roboleon has an interest in the monkira as well. This couldn’t end well…

Now to discuss another cast character from the show.  Well, technically two… but since they’re both voiced by the same person, I’m mentioning them both here.

One of the new characters in this batch of episodes, Doctor Gunther, is voiced by Banjou Ginga.  (He also voiced Grand Emperor Magellan.)  Some of his roles include the narrator in Esper Mami, Neros in Invincible Steel Man Daitarn 3, and Alan & King Bado in Uchuu Senshi Baldios.

Episode 13:  The Secret of Planet Burai
Episode 14:  Blueprints of the Mobile Planet

Errors in the Daltanious Batch fixed

It came to my attention that the batch torrent has errors in it.  Apparently, I accidentally used the video for Episode 03 when I muxxed Episode 02.  After comfirming this error, I fixed the batch with making a V3 for Episode 03.  My apologize for this error.

I also found muxxing errors in other files as well, and fixed them as well with V3s.  The following episodes have been remedied:

Episode 01:  Rise and Go to War!
Episode 02:  The Mysterious Third Robot (Duh!)
Episode 08:  I Want a Mother
Episode 09:  Jump, Jump, and then Cry
Episode 13:  The Tearful Struggle of the Hungry Man
Episode 16:  Substitute Operation:  Gluttony
Episode 17:  How is Your School?
Episode 21:  Cratus, Warrior of Space
Episode 22:  The Great and Tearful Transformation of the Instructor Robot
Episode 34:  I am Kento, a Man from Earth
Episode 35:  Doctor Earl, the Proud Rebel
Episode 37:  Panic at the Port City
Episode 43:  The Mobile Fortress of Betrayal
Episode 44:  Sally Forth, Adarus Base!
Episode 46:  The Massive Attack Leads to Zaar in the Storm
Episode 47:  Ormen’s Tragic Tale

Also a quick reminder…

In the subbed episodes, you’ll sometimes see some text appear at the bottom of the screen in Italian.  Those cannot be removed.  The video source uses the Italian Dynit DVDs, and the hardsubbed Italian text are present in there.

[EDIT:  “Daltanious: Robot of the Future” has been licensed by Discotek Media as “Future Robot Daltanious”.  Personally, I think “Daltanious: Robot of the Future” sound better, but whatever.  Anyway, be sure to support the official release when it comes out.  They grow up so fast!  ;_;]

Mirai Robo Daltanias: 01-47 (V2 Batch)

daltanious01

It’s finally ready!

The batch torrent for “Daltanious: Robot of the Future” is completed!

All episodes were given one final check to squash any possible typos or timing errors or slight line re-writes to make these episodes shine brigher than a Twilight vampire in the sunlight.  And yes, even the error that was present in Episode 40 was squashed.

I hope you enjoyed this anime series as much as I have subbing them.

And now, to showcase who helped in making these subbed episodes possible…

Starseeeker:  TL-Checking (Episodes 01 & 02)
serenade_beta:  TL-Checking (Episodes 02 – 47)
TehKou:  Intro & Ending song translations
Ametuchi:  Insert Song translation in Episode 17
Musical_life:  Quality Checking
Luurah:  Editing, Timing, Typesetting, Spanish-to-English Translation, Encoding
RAW Video Source:  Italian Dynit DVDs

[EDIT:  “Daltanious: Robot of the Future” has been licensed by Discotek Media as “Future Robot Daltanious”.  Personally, I think “Daltanious: Robot of the Future” sound better, but whatever.  Anyway, be sure to support the official release when it comes out.  They grow up so fast!  ;_;]

Uchuu Majin Daikengou: 10 – 12

This year, we have a Halloween release!  Episodes 10, 11 & 12 of Uchuu Majin Daikengo, our joint project with TMUSubs has been released to the masses!  Download and have a Happy Halloween!

daikengo10

Episode 10, titled “Don’t Cry, Our Dear Mother Planet”, has a sacrilegious Roboleon attacking El Sabela, a holy planet among the Galactic Alliance.  Jeanne, a native of El Sabela, receives a divine message to summon Daikengo to El Sabela and save the planet.  Also, Yuger plans a reunion between Ryger and Queen Eliza.  Who knows how this all works out… and hopefully, there won’t be ten plagues involved.

In around 4:12 and 4:55, Lady Baracross mentions that Roboleon might have “choleste-rust” in his system.  Well, in the Japanese audio, she mentions “sabi-sterol”. (“Sabi” or “錆” is the Japanese word for “rust”.)  Therefore, I wanted to showcase this by making a portmaneau of “cholesterol” and “rust”.  Hence, that’s why I came up “choleste-rust”.

daikengo11

Whoa… Anike!  Let’s not make rash judgements.  I’m sure they don’t all… as I would say… “caminar con los codos“.

But I digress…

In Episode 11 of Daikengo, titled “The Hell’s Nebula Showdown”, Planet Holo is caught in the crosshairs of the fight between Prince Ryger and Roboleon… all for something called “K142″… whatever the hell that is.

In Episode 12 of Daikengo, titled “Summoning the Storm on the King’s Planet”, Sir Dulles finally puts his coup d’état into action!  Ryger and Cleo are coerced into returning to Emperius or else Ryger’s parents would end up like on the wrong side of a firing squad.

Now to briefly talk about the voice actors for Sir Dulles and Gorikki, Jun Hazumi and Shigezou Sasaoka, respectively.

Jun Hazumi, the voice actor for Dulles, had other roles in anime.  He has played George Grimwood in the “Riding Beam” OAV, Li-enn’s Father in “Zatch Bell” (also known as “Konjiki no Gash Bell”), Eddie Ross in the “Dirty Pair” TV series, and Pailuras Brewer in the “Armored Trooper Votoms” TV series.

Shigezou Sasaoka, voice actor for Gorikki, also had different voice actor roles as well.  He played the voice of Mazinger in “God Mazinger”, Major General Connolly in “Legend of Galactic Heroes” OAV, Gasten in “Blue Comet SPT Layzner”, and Mitsugu Tachikaze in “Aah, Harimanada!”  Sadly, he passed away in August 31, 1998.
